when I first got biab I was determined to master nearly all of this fantastic software yet after over a year Im content to run with the small amount I know. Many many years ago me and friend of mine both had the new Revox reel to reel machine and I was determined to understand everything about using it(eg cut&paste overdub etc) but guess what as soon as I picked up the basics I didnt investigate further. My mate John did and went on to be an excellent recording engineer and songwriter working with Mark Knopfler George Harrison Dave Edmunds etc now it appears Im doing it again. So my New Year resolution is to get stuck in and no more excuses because knowing more about biab can only help in my aim of getting some of my songs covered again WITH GOOD SOUNDING DEMOS.Happy New Year to you all.Frankie

FWIW, Frankie, you're not the only one. :-(
But, to be fair, this software has a huge set of features, many of them added by request. It is entirely possible (probable) that not everyone will need to use every feature.
But I like your New Year's resolution. A committed effort to expand horizons sounds like a great idea!

Frankie,
I, too, have settled for the bits and pieces that I know how to use. That being said, though, I have found these forums excellent for teaching me other things (especially Mac's posts). When I read something that I don't know about, I ALWAYS start up BIAB/RB and try it out.
All the best, Noel

Hi Pat...."But, to be fair, this software has a huge set of features, many of them added by request. It is entirely possible (probable) that not everyone will need to use every feature." This is true but to be honest with you there are numerous goodies I could and should use but they need to be studied much harder than Ive done to date.
Hi Noel.... "have found these forums excellent for teaching me other things (especially Mac's posts). When I read something that I don't know about, I ALWAYS start up BIAB/RB and try it out." Again this is true but on those occasions when people like Mac, Rharv etc post up good answers to questions I sometimes give it a quick browse and if the answers look a bit complicated I tend to put them on the back burner to view at a later date. This has got to change and Ive made a start today.Cheers Frankie

**Cross bridges only when they appear in front of you and are between you and your stated objective.**
Those of us who are able to answer your questions likely did not set out to master the program first and then use it.
They learn by *USING* it, daily.
I do not know everything that BiaB or RB can do at all.
Some of the things they may do might not be needed in my particular day-to-day use of the programs - BUT - if a particular project leads me toward the need to find out how to do something new or different to me, then I start trying to figure out how to Git 'R Done.
A little at a time, a few minutes each session, I do try to keep things FUN as much as possible, for that is the real key to the musician's need to practice, practice, practice.
You can't master a musical instrument without practicing. Daily.
Treat your music making softwares in the same fashion and you will accomplish things.

Trane43, if the bass line is a midi line and you want to keep it as midi then right click on bass, select solo then click on the .mid icon. This will save the bass file as a mid file.
If it’s a realtrack then right click on bass and select save realtrack as wav. This will save the bass as a wav file.
You would import the wav and/or the midi file into Cakewalk like you would any wav or midi file into Cakewalk.
Good luck.
The bumper sticker said "I'm a veterinarian, therefore I can drive like an animal". Suddenly I realized how many proctologists are on the road.

Frankie, I'm another lazy old git. I see absolutely no reason to use a lot of the pop orientated real tracks especially funk. I stick with pop ballads, country, latin & some jazz. There's so much great stuff in biab I still tinker around for hours and never notice the time passing.
