Greetings: I am trying to utilize "Master Volume" feature - only using RealTracks and Audio track, no MIDI:

Version: Band-In-A-Box to : 2010.5 (304).

CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-W
CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-Q
These keys above change the volume of all Real Tracks, but LOSE the individual balance of each track volume setting - resets all RealTracks volumes to the same level.

Ctrl+Alt+A
Decrease master volume by 5.

Ctrl+Alt+S
Increase master volume by 5.

Ctrl+Alt+D
Set master volume.

Using the above keystrokes, I see the numeric value of the MasterVolume go up and down correctly, but this has no affect on the actual volume of the RealTracks or Audio track. Need a "Master Volume" for all output from BIAB, including RealTracks and the Audio track - WITHOUT losing the balance of the individual RealTrack volume settings.

Can the Ctrl+Alt+A, Ctrl+Alt+S work with the RealTracks, and the AudioTrack?
thanks

Not familiar with the keystroke modes on levels.
Not to be insulting, only trying to help.

However suggestions from other members pointed me in the
direction of using RealBand for the final level setups.
This does give you excellent control abilities.
Click mixer icon in top left.

Make sure your in the track mode in RB.
In addition you can use:
Highlight desired track click Edit>Audio Effects>Gain change for extra boosts
or cuts.

Good luck,

Seeker

Greetings: I took your Advice, and now taking a look at RealBand again. In the past, RealBand lacked most of the functionality for a "live" gig situation. I see RealBand now has the "Conductor" feature which is good improvement. At the moment RealBand seems the right tool for a DAW or multi-track recording to master tracks, but still has much fewer features for "live" usage than Band-In-A-Box.

Example: I use a MIDI foot controller, and in BIAB - with foot switch I can easily do things like:
- Mute or Unmute RealTracks on the fly: live during playback
- Decrease / Increase master volume +/- 5: live during playback (but loses track balance)

Those two examples above, I have not found yet in RealBand (2010.5). I hope they add in future. I would actually prefer to use RealBand, because you are right, it's more powerful for mixing, allows Audio track volume mixing, and truly multi-track.

It is a little confusing which direction PG-Music is going:
Which tool is future direction for "live" gig use: RealBand or Band-In-A-Box?

Some of us prefer BiaB in live use as it can be used to generate slightly different accompaniments every time a song is loaded, provided that song is not Frozen. This is likely to be of more importance to the Improvising jazz-type performers.

Others like to use RealBand for the leel of control it offers over the performance. For example, our forum's "silvertones" - John does Country & Rock covers and uses Realband live.

Then there is the case where one may choose to work up a song initially in BiaB, taking advantage of its realtime accompaniment features and then at some point Export the project over to Realband where the ability to edit separate tracks, keep everything exactly as it sounded at a certain playback point, record as many more Audio or MIDI tracks as may be needed, invoke separate and different Software Synths in the same songfile and things like that can be done.

I recommend that you shake down each program at home and find out which direction seems best for your particular circumstances.
