Hello All,
I'm doing a medley and song # 1 is a tango, # 2 a swing. At bar 1 for the tango, my style is a midi with Realdrums and Realbass, and at bar 40 for the swing, an all RT jazz style . Everything looks good on the F5 screen, but when I play the song from the beginning, the midi instruments do not play at all; only the 2 RTs.
And on the notation screen of the non-audible midi tracks is a comment- 1152 Silence. Now if I use an all RT bossa style at the beginning, no problems at all. Seems like the RT style just overrides the midi parts..
Has anybody ever come across this?
Percy

I see exactly the same behavior. When you switch styles in a song and you put a real instrument anywhere in song it will silence the midi for that particular voice for the whole song.
The "Style Change at any Bar" section in Help does not mention this "feature".

Check the Style indicator, the little window in the mainscreen under the title window, see if there is an X in front of the Stylename.
If so, somehow the Style got excluded, such as when you invoke a RealTrack Style this is normal, just Rightclick on that window and select to have the Style play.

Mac,
SaxManJim actually explained the problem better than I did.
The song starts in a midi style with 2 RTs- drums and bass. Further into the song, I change styles to an all RT style and it plays correctly. But the next time I hit play or replay, the midi parts of the first style are silenced from the very beginning of the song. The only audible tracks are the drum and bass RTs. The midi parts are being taken over by the RTs!
This is even indicated under the drag/drop button; the midi tracks are silent and the only audible parts are the RTs used in the midi style.
When I first came across this, I thought my F5 settings were incorrect. Took me hours to isolate the variables and figure it out.

A specific track can either be MIDI or Realtracks, but not both. So if there are RT anywhere in the track, the whole track becomes RealTracks, with silence during the MIDI parts.

Now it makes sense. Thanks so much.
If you're still close by. . .
I've invoked the Sunrise Klezmer waltz style at bar 1. At bar 33, I want to change to 4/4 so I go to F5. At 'beats this bar' I input 4, but the notation of the song is still in 3/4. I've tried invoking the swing style first, but same results.
Can't figure out what I'm overlooking.

To get 4/4 in a song that starts as 3/4, you must select a style for the song that is in 4/4. In other words, you can always change to fewer beats (and change back), but not more beats than the original style.
A small wrinkle: since you want the 3/4 to start at the beginning of the song, you will get a warning if you use F5 on the first measure that says the style change at bar 1 will change the overall song style. One workaround is to use an empty measure at bar 1 (like C.), make the style change in bar 2, change to 3 beats per bar, and then go back to the chordsheet to change the Bar for beginning of Chorus number from 1 to 2.

Thanks for the heads up about adding the empty measure. No wonder I wasn't getting anywhere. So after setting up the chord sheet with the beat changes, the melody was way out of wack. I tried nudging it but it wouldn't budge. Finally got the chords and melody all lined up.
I really thought that some of the 3/4 issues had been addressed. I've got these 2 lousy medleys that I already sequenced, but needed to do over using the RTs. No more medleys.
Your timely help is greatly appreciated.
