Does anyone know if there are any Benny Goodman or Charlie Christian songs in BIAB format available on line? Songs such as Grand Slam aren't in the Real Book, and I can't seem to find BIAB files for these anywhere. Any help you can provide would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Except for a rare lucky find, you will have to enter arrangements yourself of the sort of stuff you describe. The general run of prepared BiaB numbers available for free is hackneyed and limited (and often none too legal). In your field, you already see how you find the same old Realbook jazz heads over and over, and maybe a couple hundred overplayed standards. This fakebook search page will help you find legitimate leadsheets: http://www.seventhstring.co.uk/fbindex.htmlYou can look for songbooks on eBay. I have found a number of useful bargains there. People mostly want the same popular thing, so interesting books may go cheap. Music stores sometimes have some old and unusual stock. Downloadable sheet music is also online from a number of sources. That can get expensive, but sometimes it's the sensible way to get a scarce thing; buy a leadsheet for 3 bucks. Bob Norton has entered many current fakebooks as BiaB arrangements, for sale at Norton Music website, with or without the accompanying fakebook. They are very accurately done, and one or more of them might cover your interests. You will be surprised at how many tunes just don't exist in print. Learn to take those off your records or the radio. BiaB is a great help in that.

Hi,The 557 jazz standards book has 4 Benny Goodman tunes."Don't be That Way""Flyin Home""A Smooth one""Soft Winds"..If you google it you should get all the links you need..It doesn't take that long to put together your own tracks including the written melody part..

Don't restrict yourself to just Biab files, look for midi files too. Biab is pretty good at extracting the chords from a midi file and laying the whole song out for you. That chord wizard is not perfect, you usually have to make some corrections but it's a good start and saves a lot of time because you at least have the roadmap done. The same can be said about the Audio Chord Wizard. If all else fails, get a recording of the song in question and let the ACW have a run at it. Again, not perfect but still useful because even if the chords are all wrong you still have the song layout as a start. Rharv has an excellent tutorial in the Tips and Tricks forum about using the ACW.

I was just wondering why you picked 'Grand Slam'. Is it because you have problems finding the more unusual tunes. Most of the tunes Benny Goodmanb recorded are jazz standards and readilly available in BIAB format, particularly from that other BB forum's archive: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Band-In-A-Box-Files/Maybe this list of BG recordings will help: Benny Goodman – Trio, Quartet and Sextet June 13th 1928 Clarinetitis C6 October 22nd 1931 Farewell Blues C6 July 13th 1935 After You,ve Gone C2 Body And Soul C2 Who C2 Someday Sweetheart C2 April 24th 1936 China Boy C2 More Than You Know C2 All My Life C2 April 27th 1936 Oh, Lady Be Good C2 Nobody’s Sweetheart C2 Too Good To Be True C2 August 21st 1936 Moonglow C2 August 26th 1936 Dinah C2 Exactly Like You C2 November 18th 1936 Sweet Sue C2 My Melancholy Baby C2 December 2nd 1936 Tiger Rag C2 Stompin’ At The Savoy C2 Whispering C2 February 3rd 1937 Ida, Sweet As Apple cider C2 Tea For Two C2 Runnin’ Wild C2 July 30th 1937 Avalon T3 21st December 1937 Bei Mir Bist Du Schon Part 1 C6 29th December 1937 Bei Mir Bist Du Schon Part 2 C6 March 25th 1938 Blues In My Flat T3 Sugar T3 December 15th 1938 Bach Goes To Town C6 December 29th 1938 Pick-a-Rib Part 1, Part 2 T3 December 20th 1939 Shivers T3 April 16th 1940 Boy Meets Goy (Grand Slam) T3 June 20th 1940 Six Appeal T3 January 15th 1941 On The Alamo T3 Gone With The Draft? Thanks! Boy Meets Goy (or Grand Slam) is the one I was looking for because I am trying to learn the guitar solo, and it would be nice to play along to a version of the song a la Aebersold. I see it in your list, but don't see it under either "B" or "G" folders in the archive. Can you please let me know where you found it?
In addition, what does the "T1", "T4", etc. after each title refer to?
