Voted the worst pop song ever, and a most well-deserved accolade.
Pop Music - RIP....
Here in the UK we'd say, "You're taking the Mick surely?".

.

I really dont get why so many people are dissing this little girl. I think what she has done is to capture an essential aspect of being 13 years old in song. Furthermore, she has acheived some kind of record in making herself know via the social media. Last I looked she had 25 million people tune in. 25 million of anything deserves some kind of respect.

It does not take a rocket surgeon to figure out that her music is not meant for me. Her popularity says it must be working for the people it is meant for.

Y'all sound like your own parents when they complained about whatever it was that you liked and they did not understand...

This "bad" publicity is really good marketing - creates more buzz for the record, gets her name known and generates more sales. Some will buy it because it is the "worst" and others buy it to support the underdog. A few buy because they actually like it. In the end the record company wins and she gets her 15 minutes or longer.

I agree with Daisy, pop music history is full of stinkers. She's just the latest.

Some guy has done a version as if by Bob Dylan
Friday
this certainly shows how music evolves over the decades. The test with this version is actually trying to listen to it for 5 minutes, I lasted about a minute

Don't blame this girl for making a lousy record for it isn't her fault in any way. There is a producer behind this song who made a ready-to-eat-no-flavor-intended-easy-to-swallow hit-song aimed to target the young teens market. This cute little girl fit the profile and was given the chance to live her dream. Heck yeah, she took that chance. The fame and the name she builds up now won't hurt her if she ever decides to make "real" music.

Still is a terrible song to my ears.

And why don't they ban that rotten AutoTune? I HATE AutoTune. Whenever I hear AutoTune kick in in a song I immediately hit the stop button. A slight correction on a single note, OK. But this.....

Auto-tune??? They've got a small app out now that lets you make calls on your iphone...breaking into song as it "kicks into" auto-tune to make you sound so "purty".

Also let's you switch your voice to a plain ol' Robot..or..a "Robot Fairy"....or.....

I think the song that ended it all was...

I LOVE YOU AND...DON'T YOU FORGET IT!!!

Rogers & Hammerstine rolling in their graves to "rap"!!

I agree 100% Check out this article from Yahoo. This 13 year old ain't doing too bad. She's got the attention of Simon Cowell, Rolling Stone Magazine, as well as 33.5 million hits on Youtube, which, by the way, nets her and her record company about 20 grand so far. Plus she's sold a bunch on iTunes, but they won't release the actual numbers. Not too shabby.

have heard many many worse records than this and often by 'established' artists too.

...and Barbie is a terrific record* by a fine band. (listen to their albums - you will be surprised)

* - catchy
- distinctive
- lyricaaly controversial
- wound up one of the big corporates enough for it to take legal action

How much more rock and roll can you get?

"Pop"(popular music)has always been for the kids.
At 76+ million views on youtube, I would say this is pop.
It may be a stupid song, but it seems like fun!
I would rather listen to this... than songs about cop killing, suicide or drugs.

Unless my memory is toatally gone...
Brown Sugar was about a black chick.
I never equated Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds as about drugs, although I know the rumors.
Can't say I ever heard Mother's Little Helper.
Never liked the song Cocaine.
