Hi,

I just entered a song, simple melody, no fancy chord progression. A quick search on the web found this example to give you an idea: http://www.montalegre-do-cercal.com/liederkiste/Wanderlieder/Bergvagabunden.html

Now I wanted to auto-fancy the chords. I didn't like the first result, well it just didn't match my expectations. Then I hit "undo" from the edit menu. Guess what, it undid the changes as expected and it also transposed the melody (not the chords) 4 halftones down.

The first time I didn't notice it -- one doesn't see what happens to the melody when you look at the chords. The second time I looked at the melody and saw what happened.

Firstly it undid changes and then, in a second step, it transposed the melody and left the chords unchanged. I can reproduce this behaviour with other songs.

Best wishes for a sunny Sunday
Guido

Edit: corrected type chganges to changes.

Can't dupe. Step by step descriptions of what exactly was done may be helpful ...

Your wish is my command.

I did produced a short movie (about 90 seconds) that shows all steps from opening BIAB, opening the file, choose Reharmonize and Undo.

You may find the video here: http://tinyurl.com/6yqmqyq

Yes, I see the result clearly.

What I cannot see clearly enough in the video is what is done in the Reharmonist dialog. Could you please write which selection you make before the dialog appears, and what values are in the dialog (especially for Key)?

Yes, can do:

Reharmonize --> Auto Reharmonize Melody for Entire Song

Window:
Genre: Jazz swing (Jazz)
OK to load style: 32 Rock Eagles... (other styles show the same effect)
Track with melody: melody
Mix chords: 0
No. of variations: 15

Key: E <-- Analysis shows the correct key is likely A ...

There is no change to the key. It is written in E and I don't want that to be changed.

Best regards.
Guido

The whole rigmarole appears to be pretty buggy anyway.

While I can't duplicate the melody shift - maybe you could post your specific song somewhere in that respect - I can't get the chord reharmonizations *undone* at all ... as everybody may confirm via the youtube clip posted by Guido.

Yup, I now duplicate the melody shift as well. The whole Re-harmonization feature appears to be a mess.

The same weird behavior happens e.g. with the demo song of ZZJAZZ.STY, viz. ZZJAZZ.MG1.

Strangely enough, with ZZJAZZ.MG1 the re-harmonisation dialog first says that the key is likely correctly Bb. Then, after applying a re-harmonization and a futile un-do operation resulting in a melody shift, a further click on the re-harmonization button makes the dialog suddenly say, the key would correctly be C ...

Maybe somebody from PG Music might want to chime in here.

Time for a call to PG Music Support? Send them the sample file and a link to this thread.

I see you are in Germany; perhaps use the Live Chat?

Thanks for the suggestion to inform support.

I will send them the link to this thread, then they have all the information needed. My experience with their live chat is ok, but they probably cannot solve this problem. This is code taking probably programmed detours that were not destined to be taken.

Many thanks so far for the assistance you and Martin provided. Now I know that it is not (or not entiely) my fault.

Best regards.
Guido
