Ahh, yes....GDaddy Matilda is moving to Merrit Island, Florida... (right next to Cape Carnvivorous)...
I'll be opening up a shop there selling drum circles and violins...like the philharmonic software we've been pushin' for a measly $15 bucks....

Found a beautiful place to park my 5th wheel, under a palm tree near a place in the warm sand... to shove off on my canoe while the rest of the world turns radioactive....of course, it's always Bush's fault!!

Just picture me on my seafaring catamaran ....
listening to my favorite popular song guitarist of all time. (And to think this guy was once "just" a postman that had to think hard before he "rang the bell twice" with perfect timing....)!!!

"I've listened to this clip repeatedly and continue to be joyously impressed. Great musicians in performance! This inspiring, majestic song helps to showcase their virtuosity all the more. In listening to John McLaughlin for many years, I cannot help feel that his genius is somehow more spiritual than many of the top-shelf guitarists today. To be able to infuse what you do with that sublime quality is a mark of deep understanding of the art of music in its highest form."
Dig It~~

Now here's "the piece"....a sendoff to you as the shoreline gently fades in the mist. ENJOY~~!!

I hear you, Ed and I'm taking you're advice!!!...

Heading down there next week to put my ear to the ground for any "drum circles" gathering on the beaches. Haven't been down there in ten years, actually long before I bought this 33' Fifth-Wheel with "slide-outs" on both sides of the rig for interior comfort--just me, my 2yr.old Jack Russel, Bella, and my 9 yr.old Cairne Terrier, Tiger! I belong playing at "Hemmingways" down thar! Maybe it'll happen!

I've have spent "way too much time" in east-central Florida (going on my 5th year up here: (Vero Beach, Palm Bay,Melbourne, Rockledge, Orlando...and yesterday, I almost took a beautiful site on Merritt Island, near the Cape....but alas, I found out this morning that it had been rented to someone else for $630-a-month...

So, it was a blessing in disguise as I'll be heading south on I-95 (from Rockledge), April 3rd, and will be able to take advantage of off-season rates when I arrive in the lower keys in a couple of weeks. One thing about Florida is that there are lots of interesting "dives" between any two points on the map.

I remember in 1959, when I played in the back lounge room of the East Inn Playhouse situated on the causeway
from Miami to Miami Beach...and who should be on the premises making fun of the Elite?? Lenny Bruce!!
I had joined Local #655 in Miami and was booked into the same darned place as that "reprobate"!

Some 50 years plus later, I'm still "tickin'" and taking a "lickin"!!

Good for you GDaddy. It sounds like if you get tired of the view, you just drive someplace else!

That's cool. Enjoy.

One thing about Florida is that ... even off-season is overpriced!
Gotta say though, we just had an ice storm come thru the midwest, lots of big trees struggling to stand. Some losing the battle. Florida does sound nice .. today. A month from now not so much! I LOVE spring and fall up here.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I keep thinking of Jimmy Stewart's friend in the movie, "Harvey", when I see your name, ol' "EHarv".... really an invisable "entity" you are to me, but, I'm sure a very nice guy I'd like around as a friend!!

We ARE sort of kindred spirits!!

I did spend virtually ALL my life being raised in a very-extended family of father-mother-grandfather-grandmother-uncles and aunts.... in Chicago, putting up with "The Windy" weather and all her tricks and travails.

I've still got most of my surviving family there (a dwindling number), and some others spread around the country, as these "nuclear families" do...

I have some from Michigan, that own a big camp ground near Cadillac, Michigan
...I went thru "sort of" Michigan winters for years....but not quite as bad as yours!!

During my summer years throughout HS in Chicago (1948-1952), I was fortunate to spend my very hard-working summers, employed as a cowpoke of sorts, rustling up neophytes at Dude Ranches, putting up hay, weaning calves, all in God's country...Montana and Wyoming!!

But I've been blessed in many ways...from my Dad and Mom who were attempting to "raise" a depression baby, as best they could, and to my Mom's Dad, who was an ex-Canadian Hod Carrier from London, Ontario that thought he'd like to improve his chances in life by joining the American guys for some action in the Spanish/American War....that brought him eventual automatic citizenship and a ticket to Chicago, where he became not "just" a hod-carrier...but eventually one of the most admired Plastering contractors in the big city of big "ornate-type" plastered edifices...

Albiet, the depression took most of that "success" away...

This has all given me the where-with-all" to keep on, keep on, doing the things I love to do!

Goodnight....Mrs. Calabash, wher ever you are!! (Jimmy Durante)

Hi John,
I heard your YouTube tune. Heavy! Loved it!
Is there a way I can write to you in a private message?
Thanks,

Well, strap me in the gurney and roll me off that long pier...that this post got reposted today is beyond me...Over 1 year old post...and I'm still goin', so my response at the end of this repeat post is my current
status.

Left Cocoa back on Jan 1st, not for Merrit Island, but for Crystal River area on the Gulf Coast. I'm enjoying this more layed-back style on the "NATURE COAST".

My living and gigging have cut back some. Lost 30 lbs., with a long bout of Bronchytus the reason.
Then my 2003 Ford 350 truck gave it up.....engine blew as I dragged my 5th Wheel Trailer to the gulf coast.

I still have my musical menageree of keyboards, guitars and sound modules...

I'm residing at a place called Clam Haven RV Park, which is "fronted" by a very popular restaurant called
Dan's Clam Stand...

...and so I'm perfecting a new "group" to play there...BIAB with GDaddy pushing the buttons and plucking the strings. I'm calling the music group "Clam Up Jazz" (Perhaps getting ahead of the audience response.

Anyhow....nice to have my internet connection to yuze guys and girls.

CHICAWGO...CHICAGO...It's been six years since I left it behind for my Florida Tiki Hut!
