I intend to get the Harmony "G-XT".This unit is meant to be driven by a guitar. The input is unbalanced 1Meg. Can I safely drive this input from a separate guitar track output of my sound card? I think i can but need to be sure.

I found the answer. You can. I ordered the TC-Helicon Voice Tone Harmony G-XT. It uses the same harmony processor as the Voice Live 2. Just doesn't ave as many bells and whistles. Now I have to edit all 200 songs with an added guitar track. I gonna wait till I get the unit though to see which type guitar is best. RT acoustic,RT Electric or a MIDI guitar track converted to audio. The MIDI guitar will follow the chords exactly and may be more stiff and steady which is what you want. Should be fun!

Hi John
I have considered buying a G-xt myself and has been wondering how it would work. As to the fact that the harmonies are created on basis of the guitar input, I believe you would have to output your guitar track from your DAW to the the G-XT (external hardware) and send the signal back. Your vocal should be tracked via the G-XT directly.
By doing this (if this is the way to do it?) I do'nt believe it would be necessary to redo the guitar tracks. I have read that bass tracks similary could do the job, that is, being basis for the harmonies based on the key.
Let us know have you progress with the harmonizer.

What I'm going to do is make another guitar track and route it to the computers internal sound card. Then the headphone out to the harmonizer. The rest of the "Band" goes to my A2ZSNB soundcard.I want the seperate track so that I can set to a low volume so that even with the volume on the computer turned all the way up the headphone out level won't be too high. Just want to protect the input of the Harmonizer. If this proves to be iffy I'll get some sort of matching device.

John: That all sounds unnecessarily complicated and laborious. You do know that there is a setting in BIAB that is dedicated to outputting chords to a vocal harmonizer, like the one you are buying). In "Preferences" click the box labelled "OutputCh. and it will be self-explanatory. The default is midi channel 1, but you can tailor the settings to suit your setup. Check it out when you get your TC-Helicon. I have the Harmony-M (I am a keyboardist), and it works great! Good luck. Daisy

Two points. I use Real Band & it doesn't have that feature. The unit I'm getting is not the "M" for MIDI. I got the G-XT cause it's newer and improved.

John i hope you don't develop clock issues using two separate sound cards. I might route the guitar track thru the main sound card and back.
However the built in might just do the job as well. Who knows, let us know how it comes out.
HP Win 11 12 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2025, Realband, Reaper 7, Harrison Mixbus 9 32c , Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app.

Some time ago before KX got out another set of drivers to have 8 outputs I used to use the internal card as well as the A2ZSNB card. They did stay in sync.I can use the A2ZSNB for a send to the G-XT if I have to.

BTW for anyone interested TC support states in writing that using the headphone out to the G-XT is fine. Just pay attention to levels.
