Hi guys: I have just purchased the "all, everything hardrive" with the .wav files. I think I am doing something wrong though. When I turn on the computer and then start the hardrive, sometimes it reads that the hardrive is in "G", sometimes it says "F". So far I'm missing a whole lot of styles and realtracks. Any ideas of what's going on?

Hi Johnny,
Likely Windows is assigning a different drive letter when you boot up. Sometimes you are getting F:\ and the others you are getting g:\.

If you are booting up BB from the same drive, this shouldn't matter though, as long as you have not set a custom folder in Prefs-RealTracks Settings. If you have, then you have told it to look for RealTracks on (for example) drive F:\, where they may be on drive G:\

So the main questions to answer are:
1. Are you running the BBW.EXE program from the BB Hard Drive?
2. Have you set a custom folder for RealTracks (and RealDrums in Prefs-RealDrums-Settings.)

Thank you, Peter.

No, I have not set up a "custom" folder for anything. I simply installed BB on "C" and agreed to leaving all the "realtracks" on the hardrive. And I think you've found the problem for me. I thought I should be saving the new songs I'm doing onto the new hardrive. I think that's wrong! So I have now changed the "shortcut" to C:bb to start BIAB. Once up, I believe BB now points everything to the hardrive for it's sources, but saves the song on "C". Am I out to lunch . . . . or finally getting on the right track?

If you are running BB from C drive, then you need to tell BB where the real tracks and real drums are. This would mean typing in the folder location in prefs real tracks settings and prefs real drums settings. If you're drive changes from F to G that would mean you'd need to keep changing it in BB too. Hopefully you can solve the reason that the drive letter changes.

Just a guess, but if you had a flash drive or another USB hard drive already plugged in when you plug in your BIAB hard drive, it would make the BIAB drive 'G' but without that flash drive, the BIAB drive would be 'F'. Windows assigns a USB drive the next available drive letter in ascending order.

Yeah Matt: You're absolutely right! I had a "flash drive" in there a couple of times. I'll check it out by booting from C: and discovering if the program goes to "F" or "G" to access the needed files. Thanks . . . . I'll be letting the forum know. Thank you to you and Peter! Thanks all! The problem was "fixed" thanks to Peter and Matt. I had had a flash memory card in there at least 2 times and it through Windows off. Now, before I load the BIAB hardrive, I remove all such paraphenalia! Now, all Styles show up as do all Realtracks. I'm just glad the "Real musicians" hadn't gone on strike! Ha!

Mr. Welk would have said . . . . "Poys in da Pand . . . I'm glad we didn't loose our chobs"!!! JZ

Glad things are fixed Johnny!
I saw this nice clip of you on YouTube with Lawrence Welk - great!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sNbaMljiIM&feature=related

We used to get that show up in Canada on Saturday afternoons - I watched every week. I loved how great the musicians were and how authentically all the styles were played.

Just listened to "Fathers Day" on your "Brazilian Wish" CD, Matt. All the tracks are really nice, but that one catches me. For years, We had a constant fight in L.A. with the jazz musicians to keep it simple and listenable. You've captured both! Nice going! JZ

Thanks, JZ! Really appreciate it. The CD is getting a lot of play on Pandora now, too.

Hey Johnny, I used to watch you guys all the time growing up. The family never missed the Welk show. I got into music at about age 8 because I was completely enthralled by Myron Floren. My grandmother bought me an accordian and I took lessons and played in a 36 piece accordian orchestra until I was 15. Accordians were not too cool in high school in 1960 dontcha know...Later I switched to organ and then piano and now I'm mostly a jazz pianist with B3 R&R/blues roots. All because of Lawrence and Myron. I liked to watch Lawrence play too but as I recall he wouldn't do it too often, he seemed to like deferring to the great players he put around him like Myron. We used to have discussions about who was better Dick Contino or Myron, I was always with Myron. Most of the accordian sheet music I used was his too. Lady of Spain, baby!

I totally agree with the concept of keeping things simple. It all depends on the gig. If it's a true jazz gig fine, I'll go all out but for most commercial gigs you've got to keep things accessable to the average listener.

Bob
