Not creating them or getting them to play in the right place, but having the instruments I want to use showing up as available. This CD calls for a LOT of steel guitar. I go to the SOLO GENERATION area and click custom. I set my bars, set the OVERWRITE so I get a new solo every time I generate until I get one I like, but the list of instruments to pick from has 127 instruments and none of them are steel guitar. Now what I say that I am speaking of the RIGHT half of the screen where it lists "solo instrument". When I look at the left side and pick the Real Tracks I have a few choices, and they work, but man it seems like there should be more instruments listed on the right side. There is not one steel guitar there.

These kinds of issues are SO hard to explain in text..... short of screen shots of EVERY screen through the process I have to try to put into words what I DON'T see on my screen. If I did screen shots the post would be 7 panels long....

Also, I am STILL getting an error screen saying the Real Tracks are not in the right place, and they are where BIAB installed them, where they were when I wrote the solo, where they were when I saved the song.... when I go to reload I get that error like I have since day 1 yet it does not affect anything. I ignore the error popup and the song plays fine. That is "bug" defined right there.

Eddie,

I a little confused. Is this the screen you mean?

I'm not quite sure what instrument you mean by "solo instrument". If you mean the "Instrument" drop box where Tenor Sax is presently listed, these are only MIDI instruments for the MIDI solos.

When a MIDI solo is generated, it's a two step process. Step 1 is to choose the type of solo and then generate. Step 2 is to choose the instrument to play it.

Since Realtracks are unable to play single notes, this button is not relevant to them. Generating a RT solo is a one step process.

Hope this was what you meaning,
Noel

In the solos dialog, the instrument drop down only pertains to MIDI soloists - these are soloists 1 to 360.

If using a real track soloist, then ignore that drop down box..

If you are getting an error message, please tell us the exact error message.. Taking a screenshot (alt pprint screen) when you see it is the easiest.. The message usually will detail the specific problem.

Have Fun!

Okay, to Noel, yes, that is exactly what I mean. Over on the MIDI side. Can I make that NO choice somehow? It is confusing to see that I HAVE to have something selected on the right side. I want pedal steel for almost every song on this project and there is none.

I guess the more pertinent question is "Does it matter what is on the right side if I find a Real Tracks instrument on the left side that works? Can I just disregard the right side?" See I never use the MIDI in BIAB. If I wanted MIDI sata to drive other instruments or soft synths I wouldn't be using BIAB. I would be using Sonar, where I have a dozen good soft synths.

Thanks for being able to discern what I meant from that somewhat convoluted description of the problem.

Instead of using the generate solo's the way you are doing, as it seems to be causing some problems for you..Why ?? don't you just select the real track direct from the add realtrack dropdown menu when you click on soloist button.Generate the soloist part. Then use F5 to select the bars you require. Or take the BiaB file to RB and do it there section by section..Just a thought. The 127 instruments if I am right are all midi anyway.
You seem to be getting midi and realtrack confused somewhat.

Hi Eddie,

Cool .... a lucky guess!

Just totally disregard what is on the right if you are using Realtracks. It's not relevant in any way to RT soloists.

You're really starting to get into the nuts and bolts of the program now!

All the best,
Noel

This is cut and pasted from a previous post and it is the same message. The whole thing is pasted, the error message is in the first section.

- - - - -

Soloist track: some realtrack folders are not found for frozen track, for example C:\bb\RealTracks\C:\bb\RealTracks\. Either you do not have this realtrack, or you need to point to the correct folder in Prefs-RealTracks Settings.

- - - - -

Note the "double" path of C:\bb\RealTracks\C:\bb\RealTracks. I have no idea where that came from. I did not even know that setting was there until now, thus I could not have changed it since installation. So, going to Prefs-RealTracks Settings I find my path is currently set as C:\bb\RealTracks. The next step in the logic has to be that BIAB is reading that path incorrectly if it is looking for C:\bb\RealTracks\C:\bb\RealTracks.

Which brings up the question "Why is BIAB looking in C:\bb\RealTracks\C:\bb\RealTracks\ when the correct path is C:\bb\RealTracks\"? Where did that extra pathing statement come from?
- - - - -

Note 2 things. The first is that I installed BIAB accepting all defaults. The original post drew the answer "I suspect something afoul in your setup". If that were the case, BIAB "afouled" it during a default installation. The correct path is obviously the correct path is C:\bb\RealTracks\. Installation created the double path of C:\bb\RealTracks\C:\bb\RealTracks. Also note that I can change it to the correct path and still get the error.

The second is that despite the message everything is fine and the Real Tracks solo plays as it should. The error is of no consequence as far as performance. It is just annoying to see that whenever I load a song with an MGU extension that has a Real Tracks solo passage. As I have said before, the Real Tracks folder that I am being told is not correct was installed by default, and it is where it was since day 1, where it was when I created the song. If it was an incorrect path, does logic not say that I would also see an error during song creation when I wanted to access that folder to create a solo with a Real Tracks instrument?

This is the definition of a bug. Some annoying glitchy kind of thing that pops up and has no affect on performance. Like the "Jason Tabs" in MS Word. Micro$oft can not even explain or fix it. When you do certain functions in Word, some tab sets just happen. Every time and always at the same place on the tabs ruler. You clear them, and all is well. This is the same thing. I get that error warning message but it is not true and has no affect on the song.

I mean it does no harm, but it should not be happening.
