May I control the Biab mixer faders with a control surface like Novation ZeRO SL MkII?

I have a Mackie Control Universal!

No, but if you have 2011.5, you can do this with an iPhone app called BBRemote.

I was wondering how long it would take for this one to show up *grin*.

Suggest that all those wanting the ability to have BB mixer (and RB/PT mixer for that matter) to be able to respond to the standard commands for hardware controllers ;ut their wish on the Wishlist.

Yes, I first posted this in the Wishlist about ten years ago when I bought the Tascam FW-1884 control surface (similar to a Mackie). I was also content for many years with the remote control from the Frontier Design Tranzport. Now, I am very impressed by the new BB Remote app. It's more powerful than you might think, with some functions that neither of those could have done anyway, like Conductor functions. If you have an iPhone, iPad or recent iPod, give it a try.

Hi Matt!

I'm a "Blackberry" man for now (might change to iPhone though in my next Verizon upgrade).

By the way, I listened to the tune "Brazilian Wish" and are you saying that the tunes were "just generated" by BIAB and you and your sideman played it "Live" in the studio?

Just wondering. It sounds very nice either way. Good stuff!

Yes, that's what they are called, and that's what they do. Do you have another suggestion?

Thanks for the kind words, Harpo. I try to be careful, in the limited space for a signature, not to oversell what my CD is. It is not BIAB you are listening to; it is all recorded live in a studio with top pros, people I work with from the New York City area. I used BIAB to compose all the songs, but the CD was done in 2005 long before RealTracks and RealDrums. Because it was all composed in BIAB, Peter Gannon gave me permission to link to it here.

Controller, keyboard, mixer.... are they not ALL some kind of "control surface"? My retractable dog leash controls my dog. Is THAT a control surface?

Whatever. I am going up to do some work. Where I will sit on my "rotation capable buttocks support mechanism" and drink cold water from my "32 ounce frustum inspired beverage containment system".

And play with my DAW and my VSTi....

Or, before the world decided to complicate rather than simplify...

I am going up to do some work. Where I will sit on my computer chair, drink ice water from a glass and use my sequencer and soft synths..... Might even use the drum pads... what are THEY called?

But the "wishes" aren't only for styles?

I have an ipod touch but I like actual faders more than virtuals!

Sergino, there is a 'general' BIAB Wishlist (the first one) and then there is a specific one lower down for styles.

You can suggest anything about the program in the general Wishlist. PG Music has been great over the years about responding to entries in both places.

Very good!

I already gave you a +1 there.

The future of control surfaces may be limited, since all the development now seems to be on the iPad and iPhone, but there are still plenty of traditional (physical) control surfaces out there. I use a Tascam FW-1884, and I drag and drop my BIAB songs into SONAR so I can use the real faders. I especially value the ability to automate the faders. Support for the Mackie Control Unit would work for most of these devices.
