Hi,
I am thinking about upgrading my BIAB because I want to use more RealTracks.
It is not going to be until Thanksgiving/Christmas season, but is Everything Pak worth extra dollars over UltraPlus pak?

1) Are the lesson paks good for learning basic (pops & ballads) pianos?
2) I am not deeply into Jazz, but extra MIDIs and features with Everything pak useful?

Those of you who have Everything paks, let me know what you think about it.

Lastly, it is not possible to export in MIDI format the songs that RealTracks created, right?
Thank you.

Hi, Mike -

First off, the summer sale just ended, so I would actually recommend waiting until Christmas time, rather than Thanksgiving, because PGMusic usually has another sale then and you can save a good bit of money. And PGMusic generally releases the new version around that time, as well.

You didn't say which version you were upgrading from. However, the only differences between the UltraPlus and the Everything is the inclusion of the lessons and videos. Depending on the version you currently you, you may actually have many of the videos. The EverythingPak also comes with two additional soloists, which, again, depending on the version you currently have, you might already have them (or not).

I prefer the EverythingPak, but the UltraPlusPak gets you all the styles (MIDI and Real), all the RealDrums, and all the RealTracks. The program itself is the same in both versions, so you don't lose any features with the UltraPlusPak.

Even though you are not into Jazz, you may find you might still like to use jazz styles now and then (depending on the song). And with the hybrid style maker, you may find you like a certain part in a jazz style that you can import into another styles to create your own "band".

You can't export the RealTracks into MIDI per-se, but some of them have notation associated with the RealTracks. You can get that notation into MIDI, but it won't sound like the RealTracks (it won't have all the articulations, bends, slides, etc that the person actually playing on the RealTracks does). But if you just want the notes to work on it yourself, you can definitely see that for many of the RealTracks.

And of course, when you have questions, ask at the forum here and many folks are happy to help you.

I haven't got the everything just the ultra plus pak, but on reading whats in the everything pak I personally wouldn't buy it becausde it costs considerably more to buy and to upgrade compared to the ultra plus pak, see this thread

http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=327001&an=0&page=1#Post327001

A lot of the tutorial vides contained on the everything pak are probably viewable on the pg site anyways.

As everything costs considerably more outside the sales with PG if I was you I would wait now until Christmas time and save yourself many $$$$

I'm going for the everything pak when the next sale comes. It's now 399 for my upgrade. Do you know what the sale price was? Just trying to get a ballpark figure when it's time. I'll be buying the same one anyways. I'm coming from 2008. thanks

I don't remember, but I'm doing the same thing when the Christmas sale comes, upgrading from 2009 version.

If I remember correctly, it was about 379 or 399 for the 2010 edition.

right now the everything pak is 399, the sale price should be lower. thats what it would be for me. thats the upgade for 2009 and under. I was just wondering how much they reduce it for the sale. I hope they give it another good shot in the arm. for that money I won't be buying for awhile. I just don't have the money. but I'll be up to date and have everything. that will be cool.
I can't wait for the sale, I mean I will but I wish it was here now and I had all the money now.

jford,
Sounds like I don't miss match with UltraPlus. As I stated I am not into
Jazz, so all the jazz material that come with UltraPlus should be
more than enough for me.

It is good to know that RealTracks can be converted into MIDI so that I
can study the notes, or adjust in DAW. Too bad it would lose articulations (maybe not?).
I wonder how these were recorded in the first place. Regular instruments
miked, and someone transcribed into MIDI or just MIDI instruments to
start out with?
The latter seems to be less work... Then the articulation should be there.
Thanks!!

musiclover,
I did some research on Christmas sale in the past. The price difference
is $20. Is it a lot or not, I don't know.
Maybe someone else can give us some insight.
Thanks!!

My understanding is that they were transcribed after the fact, but I don't know that for sure.

The MIDI used for Notation of the RealTracks with underscore of the Trackname are not performance MIDI diles. The data is just there to print the notes. Therefore the subtle nuances and such are not going to be a part of the resulting MIDI. However, you might try using some that way and you be the judge of the end result.

Now finally the time has come for upgrade!
I read other posts and got a feeling that most people purchase UltraPlus instead of Everything, although maybe they already have older Everything pack.

The price difference is $20 between the two, and I am almost ready to purchase UltraPlus.

Also, surprised to see many purchase $25 pack as well. Was it worth it?
Looking at the list, 18-20 is already included in UltraPlus pack, so I'm interested in 2 "5-hour lick lessons". Please let me know your reviews on them.

Hi,

I got my Audiophile 2011.5 late, around Oct. If I had known PG release cycle style, I would have waited for 2012.

2012 have many new features that I like (individual vst / track, etc..).

Anyway, being really short of cash, I was thinking of downgrading.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, the difference of Everything or UltraPlus pack is the Video/Lesson.. and since I have the Audiophile 2011.5 (and I didn't really dig in yet to all the Video/Lesson yet) I will not requires those. Also may not fully utilize the WAV quality yet at the moment.

So,

1) At what upgrade (downgrade) price I'm looking at ? 159/= ?

2) I didn't save a lot right, if it's 159/= ? hmm...

I normally get the ultra plus pak, because in the past I already got some of the extra content that comes with the everything pak.

However, this year I decided to go with the everything Pak specifically because of the video tutorials. I figure that some of the new features (like loops) will require a visual explanation. I've hit an age where I don't understand written instructions as well as I used to. I find the videos to be EXTREMELY useful, and well worth the extra few bucks it costs to get them.

that's the issue for me

will the videos included with the everything pack include 2012's new features? either now or future download after they're produced

I'm hoping so. If not, I'm only out $20. That's already not the worst thing that will happen to me today.

I belive the 2012 new feature video comes with this. I purchased this but the bonus pack download has a mistake that it does not install the video or the extra RealTracks. I spoke with Will at PG about it and he also confirmed this. They will fix it.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
