When connecting to the BB server from outside the LAN, do you have to use an IP address with numbers, or can you use the plain language equivalent, ie mycomputer.dyndns.org?
Looking up my router's IP address can be a bit of a nuisance, especially when I'm not at home.

You need to use the IP address, not the domain name.

Thanks for the suggestion, although I think that will only show you the real IP of your iphone, and if you are away from your computer you won't be able to get the ip of your computer or router.
Another option might be PC Monitor (http://mobilepcmonitor.com/). When you're out and about with your iphone, you can use this app to get details about your home pc, including it's ip address.
Edit: Just tried PC Monitor and it works great (it's free too).

I have mine set up for the IP of my router when I am at home or when I am at a known wifi location...and for my computer's IP when I am using my phone's connection. When I open BB on my phone or iPad I select the appropiate IP address of the 2 offered. Of course, I leave my computer running so BB server will be active.... Seems to work well for me even tho my 3G service is slower, it hasn't been enough to aggravate me...so far. I am not sure exactly why this works but it has for me. I am not a tech guy by any stretch of the imagination and I am sure if this is incorrect procedure someone will let me know and save me from myself...Ha!
