Hi,
Started to purchase some realtracks and must say I am impressed with the whole of BIAB.
I have the current release of BIAB.
Downloaded RealTracks Sets 10 and 86 a couple of days ago and they appear in the Stylepicker list no problem.
Yesterday I downloaded RealTracks Sets 88 and 98. I can't seem to find these in the stylepicker at all. They installed ok and appear in the Realtracks folder in the BB folder.
I noticed when presented with the download screen after purchasing sets 88 and 89 that shots_holds_3 appeared there twice. As I have already got shots_holds_3 I did not download them. Was this right?
What is the best way to use the filter to find the realtracks I have downloaded?
Pete

Try selecting "what add-ons do I have" and see if they RealTracks show up.
I suspect that if you like what you see, you might want to buy the whole thing once the 2012 version is ready to rock and roll. A great investment, and a lot of the Real stuff can be useful outside of the genre. A country guitar can work well with a Rock tune, or Jazz for that matter.

Done that and yes when I click "what add-ons do I have" they appear in that list, but for the life of me I cannot find 'em in the Stylepicker list.
Interestingly, in the Category section of the stylepicker list the category New Real Tracks starts at 102. Shouldn't the downloads 88 and 98 appear there also?

Hope not to stear you wrong here, but my understanding is this has been a long time issue. RT's "Set numbers" only show in the Style Selector for the most recent ones you have - therefore only #102 to #121, in my case, since I have not updated last time. All other RT Styles and their RT Instruments associated with those styles have been put into the different categores and are not easy to identfy based on the Style Set.
You can find the individual RT number from the new styles and then search for this, but not the RT Styple nu8mber. I think this has been an area of complaints in the past....

Hi jazz,
In my Style Selector Categories my 'New Real Tracks' goes from 102 to 136. Real Track 103 which I downloaded a couple of days ago appears in this list showing the number (2.
Other realtracks that I have downloaded do not appear in this list. Confusing to say the least.
As I said above:
"I noticed when presented with the download screen after purchasing sets 88 and 89 that shots_holds_3 appeared there twice. As I have already got shots_holds_3 I did not download them. Was this right?"
Thanks for the welcome!
Like the product, confused by a few things.

BTW,
if anyone from PG Music sees this I have just re-installed the whole kaboodle and still the same thing happens!
I have gone through the FAQ - Why don't the Styles that I just installed appear in the StylePicker window? and still no joy.
Where do I find the below in my stylepicker list?
RealTracks Set 98: Unplugged, 12-String & Fiddle RealTracks Set 88: 12-String Electric
Interestingly, when I use the filter in the stylepicker and choose the artists names for the above nothing appears.
Interestingly, if I go to control panel, programs and features Realtracks set 103 appears in there but no others.

Pete,
As Jazzman pointed out, only the newer RT sets (102+) have their own category. If you are looking for specific styles and can't find them, try Rebuilding the style list. It's a button within the StylePicker.
Also, check in the RealStyles category. You may find some styles that use those RTs.
If all fails, you can easily make your own style using the RTs desired.

Where do I find the below in my stylepicker list? RealTracks Set 98: Unplugged, 12-String & Fiddle
RT's Set 98 include the following 5 RT's
Fiddle, Background CountryBoogie Sw 110 Fiddle, Background CountryBoogie Sw 140 Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Strumming Ev 085 Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Strumming Ev 120 Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Strumming Ev 165
These are NOT Styles - so you will not see them as such in the Syle picker, you need to go to the "RT Picker Dialog" to look for them to verify they are present.
Same goes for RT Set 88 which contains these 6 RT's
Guitar, 12-String Electric, Fingerpicking Ev 085 Guitar, 12-String Electric, Fingerpicking Ev 120 Guitar, 12-String Electric, Fingerpicking Ev 165 Guitar, 12-String Electric, Strumming Ev 085 Guitar, 12-String Electric, Strumming Ev 120 Guitar, 12-String Electric, Strumming Ev 165
YOu can find what RT's are present in waht SETs here:
http://www.pgmusic.com/realtracks.all.php?os=win
I looked in my RT Dialog Picker and there they all are...

Hi Pete, Welcome to the forums Something that might help you is the Filter button found in the Stylepicker window. The button is found at the top, center of the dialogue box. (See image below.) About 2/3 of the way down this new window is a filter option that will allow you to show only styles containing Realtracks and Realdrums. As I understand it, this will show you everything that is available to you with the tracks you have. NOTE: When you want the MIDI tracks back, you'll need to reset this filtering option. It's caught me out a couple of times that the reason I can't find something that I knew was there is because I had the filter activated.Understanding BIAB has a bit of a learning curve associated with it. My experience is that it's well worth the effort! All the best, Noel

Well can I jump in here, cos this is similar to a post I made short while back. I dont want to muddy the waters, but it might help the OP and me if these 2 Q's could be resolved:
Is it possible to go to the Style Picker, and pick a style which uses specific RTs, maybe using the filter?
Do all RTs have an associated style?
Cheers, Tom

No No
I am pretty sure
If you want to hear a specific RT you need to Load it. Keep in mind "Styles" have nothing to do what what the RT will sound like, other then Key and Tempo.
Or you can listen to each and every RT here:

Hi Jazzmandan - could you try and be more concise? (... !!)
Thsnks - that does answer the question. Bit of a shame though - wouldn't it be useful to pick a style knowing what RTs is uses? In fact you can see the full RT number in the info panel on the right - but this doesnt give you the set number, which is probably what most folk would look for.
Cheers, Tom

I keep a printout of every RT Set with a description of each RT in so I can know what is aviable. Then I just have to find it by searching its descripton in the RT Picker. I do agree it would be easier to store and find these according to the Real Track Set set number. It just never has been done this way.

Well I was going to try and help the OP by pointing out that the style picker picks styles, not tracks. And referring to Dans answer above, you cant find by real track (RT) using the style picker. But Pete does mention he has a category New Real Tracks - so I scrolled down to look for this - and I dont have it. BUT when scrolling to the bottom of the list I do find my latest individual new RTs I recently downloaded - listed as though they were styles.
Each also has a song demo - which is excellent, and TBH this is what I was looking for when I started my other post on this.
But it is really confusing. Its no bad thing being able to find a style which includes ones preferred RTs - but surely this is slightly kooky way of doing it? (IMHO)
The point has been made elsewhere that RTs will generate according to their type, and will not be affected by the style (other than tempo) - and thats fair enough. But if a Style is essentially a given collection of instruments, be they RT or MIDI, there is a firm distinction between styles and tracks, and listing RTs individually as though they were styles is pretty muddled. Apart from anything else, why are only my latest RTs showing as though they were styles in the style picker?
Pete - I am trying to converge - sorry if this isnt helping! TOm

Thanks everyone!!
I will work through everything and then go back to my Stylophone for a week. It's a great product but quite a mouthful to begin with.

Hi Tom, I clearly remember how confused I was when I first started out using BIAB. As I became increasingly experienced, though, I started to see the sense in the way that PG Music has constructed the program. Regarding some of your questions ... Quote:
when scrolling to the bottom of the list I do find my latest individual new RTs I recently downloaded
If by "list" you mean the "Category" column on the left side of the Style Picker window, down the bottom of that list is a grouping called "New Realtracks". By using the word "New", PG Music are meaning "the latest Realtracks created by PG Music".
As mentioned a couple of time in above posts, this list currently lists the Realtracks sets from #102 - #136 because these were the PG Music's latest creations for BIAB ver. 2011.5. By calling this list "New Realtracks", PG Music are not indicating what a user has newly added to their system. The easiest way to see all the Realtracks one has is to go to the Realtrack picker window that's found by "Assigning Realtracks" to (say) the Piano or Guitar tracks.
Quote:
Each also has a song demo - which is excellent, and TBH this is what I was looking for when I started my other post on this.
If you are seeking an easy way to listen to demos, what I do is to start Jukebox, go to the \BB folder, locate and enter the "Realtracks - demos" folder, and then open the folder for a particular Realtrack number. I then let Jukebox play the demos in that folder.
Quote:
But if a Style is essentially a given collection of instruments, be they RT or MIDI, there is a firm distinction between styles and tracks, and listing RTs individually as though they were styles is pretty muddled.
When I scroll to the bottom of my "Styles" - the middle window in Stylepicker - I cannot see any Realtracks listed as styles. I'm little confused by your above statement because I have the feeling that you might be taking about the "Category" list and not the "Styles" list.
As I understand it, the "filter" that I mentioned in my post earlier in this thread will allow you to filter the Styles so that you see only those Styles that contain your installed Realtracks.
Hope this helps, Noel

I suspect Tommy C has identified the problem. Hit the "rebuild" list and see what happens. Good luck!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
