I've had biab for years and during that time have always been able to copy midi tracks to the Melody and Soloist tracks of BB. I'll admit that I haven't done this for quite some time. But lately when I've tried to copy midi tracks to the Melody or Solist tracks of BB I've not been able to do so even tho I've followed the instructions. I've tried copying just one midi track etc but always come up with 0 copied. Has something changed or have I just forgotten how I used to do it. I'm runing BB 2012.

To bring any MIDI file into BiaB, we must use the "Open MIDI file (f7)" command. I've never known BB to respond to simple Copy and Paste in that regard.

Thanks Mac, that works of course but it also (please bear with me if I display my ignorance here) imports all midi tracks to the Melody. My problem is: If you go to Melody, then "Edit Melody Track" , then "Import melody from midi file". Choose the Midi file, then "import midi file options". This then brings up a window alowing you to choose what midi tracks (1-16) you want to import to the melody track in BB. This always seemed to work for me in the past (or I'm forgetting something??) BTY, this also works for the Soloist track in BB. So you can see that I may not want to import all midi tracks to the Melody or Soloist track. Problem is I keep getting "0" events imported. Either I'm doing something wrong (probably the case!!!) or the current 2012 program no longer supports this event.

Hi, Yeah I have this problem too importing midi files via 'open midi file', seems the mute/solo in the mixer don't respond either as all the tracks are on the melody track and the other tracks do not turn yellow. I'm sure it didn't work like this at one time. Jeff

Hi syeth, I've just followed your steps and the importing midi file is working for me the same that it always has. One file that I loaded came up with zero events. As it turned out, the track I asked to be imported had nothing written to it. How I determine which track I want to import ... 1. Use FILE | OPEN MIDI FILE (F7) to load the entire midi file. This loads the file onto the Melody track. 2. Use the green SEQ button to see what midi channels have data on them. As the image below shows, the file I've loaded has data on channels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10. 3. Reload the file using MELODY | EDIT |IMPORT MELODY FROM MIDI FILE and then load in only that MIDI channel containing the melody. I find that often a trial-and-error approach needs to be used here as it's not always obvious what channel the midi file writer has put the melody on. Hope this helps, Noel

Hi Jeff, Quote:

I've been using BIAB since 2006 and have only ever been able to import midi to either the Melody track or the Soloist track. The other tracks (Bass, Piano, etc.) have always been exclusively BIAB tracks and reserved for BIAB to put it's accompaniments on.
Regards, Noel

The big green SEQ button invokes the Sequencer for any MIDI file imported to the Melody track. From there, you can choose which tracks in the MIDI file play and which to mute. Check the Help, online BiaB FAQ or the included .pdf manual for details.
