I just finished recording a couple of vocal tracks and noticed something that didn't happen in versions prior to 2012 (349). After recording and accepting the take I get no audible output the next time I hit play.

If I save the song and exit BiaB, then restart, everything is back to normal. All my output is restored and the recording is present and sounds Ok. I'm presently using MME drivers for audio output, I haven't tried ASIO since I can't get THAT to work with amplitube.

Can anyone reproduce this behaviour?

It's not a big deal to restart BiaB after recording but if it is an error with the software it would be nice to have it fixed in a later patch. If no one can reproduce it I'll play around with my system some more.

Did you try a SAVE and then PLAY again (no exit BIAB)? There should be a WAV file in the same folder as the song (SGU) file, with the same name as the SGU. After recording (but before SAVE), see if that file is there. Then SAVE and see if it's there.

I did a quick test and I hear the audio fine when playing immediately after record. Make sure the audio track wasn't muted when you did a record. I'm using build 349, also.

Hi pwarren,

I don't know if this will help, but below are my settings for OPT | AUDIO | AUDIO DRIVERS.

Also, have you checked the the volume for Audio that's found under the Audio slot?

Regards,
Noel

I HAVE had this occur, although not immediately after recording a part. I experience this in Real Band, where I do my audio recording, not BIAB.

There are times when previously recorded audio tracks display VU activity but produce no sound. I close RB, reopen and they play fine.

I believe this IS a glitch of some sort, just not been able to MAKE it happen or notice what is going on when it does happen.

Hi Ralph. Yes, I did a save before exiting and reopening BiaB. The SGU file was there as expected. Unfortunately I get no audio output at all, not from any track, until I close and reopen BiaB. Strange.

Thanks, but it isn't JUST the audio track. I get no audio at all, from any track, until exit and reopen. As I mentioned, it's not a big deal I just wanted to see if anyone else gets this issue.

Thanks Noel. My settings are all correct for my setup. Something is turning off all my audio output after a record session. Just a strange glitch. It'll probably sort itself out with another update patch, stranger things have happened.

I think it is probably some strange glitch caused by conflicting software. There's a lot more going on 'under the hood' than in previous versions. I had no problems using Asio4All and I would use it again if I could get all the VST stuff to work. Until then closing BiaB after recording isn't a big deal. Thanks.

Have you checked to see if there is a later video driver available for you system?

I've noticed in the forum over the years that sound problems are often resolved by updating a video driver. I have no idea why that happens but I've read a number of examples of its working.

pwarren,

You should know this. Maybe you've already done it but not stated that, but, just in case:

"Whenever BB does something that it is not supposed to do, or does not do something that it IS supposed to do, the first thing to try is a reboot of the computer in case resources have gotten scrambled. If that doesn't do the trick, the next thing to try is a Return to Factory Settings button number 1 and if still no joy, try button number 2."

Also make sure that you are running the latest update release as well.

One more thang:

BB associates the Audio track .wav file with the song by songname.

If you haven't saved nor named the song yet, there may be nothing to associate and that could be a problem.

"mysong.sgu" and then you add Audio track, which is a separate file with same exact prefix but different suffix: "mysong.wav"

Hi Noel. I have checked and have the latest video drivers available.

However, that made me think about one other thing that has changed on my system. I added a second monitor. I wonder if that has affected the system? Maybe I'll try a recording with the second monitor turned off.

Thanks for the ideas Mac. I have tried all those, though, without success. My system doesn't have a lot of extra horsepower so I guess it's just something I'll have to live with. Just restarting BiaB after a 'take' isn't a real hardship and, in fact, it may even be a good thing by releasing resources etc.

I don't record in BIAB. The one time I did recently (V2012), the recorded wav did not play! It was there, it was just blank. No time to troubleshoot at the time, but I do have dual monitors??

pwarren, that's not the proper response ! Yer spose to whine, cry, kick and complain about what a piece of **** this software is !!

As I said, I AM having this issue of sorts in Real Band as well. I can pull up an old tune, play it, and for some reason, some audio tracks just do not produce audio (not muted). Close RB, reopen and they play fine. It IS a curious issue and I was going to post it also, but as you say, it's a nuisance more than anything. I just relaunch.

lol That's just not my style. Besides, how can I complain about software that makes me look like I actually have some talent contrary to reality. hahaha

It's hard to tell whether this is the same problem, related problem or something else entirely.

However, PGM usually end up fixing these issues sonner or later anyway and in the meantime it isn't stopping me enjoying v2012 (the best ever IMO).

Yes, that's one thing that has changed recently on my system. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the issue. I'll try recording with the second monitor disabled and see what happens.
