Hello all,
I am new to this forum, but I am presently not a BIAB user. I would like to hear from users who incorporate BIAB into Praise and Worship music at your church. I attend a small church where I am the primary musician. I play keyboards and nothing else. I would like to add drums and guitars. The church has an arranger keyboard (Kurzweil), but the styles and variations are very limited and not well suited for what I would like to do.
If I begin using BIAB, do I have to run it from a PC? What other equipment do I need?
Any advice you may offer will be appreciated.

HI PostmanJoe and WELCOME!
Yes, you would need a PC onstage with you, most use a laptop, works fine.
Keyboardists have the advantage of being able to place the laptop where the standard music sheets would be (music board) and can use the screen as a music page while playing along, as well as easily reach keyboard controls on the laptop.
There will be a learning curve, well worth it though.
I'll leave the particulars to those who are using BiaB in their worship services, there are a few regulars around here who are likely to check in.

I don't use it at church, but I have made songs for several churches and they were more than happy with the results. Most of the songs were put on a CD and just played along with and so needed no on-site computer. I think you will be amazed at the music that can be made with this software, just check the user-showcase for examples. I don't know your financial situation but if you can afford it get the everything pack, I slowly upgraded from the Pro and wished I had bought it all to begin with later(it's cheaper that way). They even have a 30 day money back guaranty if not satisfied, so how can you lose !

I've done a number of BIAB arrangements for church that I then play keyboards along with. When I have a guitar player with me, I just remove the parts that we would play live (so basically, I'm left with the bass and drums), but will put in some audible cues to make sure we don't miss an entrance. I generally just master it all to CD first, and then bring CD (as well as having the songs on my iPod as a backup, just in case).

Welcome PostmanJoe,
I also use BIAB in church. I record various BIAB parts onto my Digitech looper that is connected to the chruch PA. I can control the looper with a footswitch while I'm playing guitar. Sometimes it works to record various sections of songs as loops (this seems to work for sing-a-long songs when there is no set time limit). Other times I just put the whole song start to finish on the looper. I use drums, bass, and guitar parts mainly depending on how many other musicians are playing with me.
Good Luck
Frank

Church music is why I first Purchased Band in a Box 17 years ago. I've used it with Piano as live instrument, drums, guitar etc on BIAB I've also used it without any live instruments when they were not available.
Band is a box is perfect for the small church. As you become acquainted with it you'll find many ways to apply it in your situation.

Someone should make a demo type video of Biab being used "live" with the conductor feature etc.
