(1) Well, I recorded one track (could have been better but it was acceptable) and then wanted to COPY it and PASTE it to another track (for 2 guitars, panned R/L sides). When I right-click on the recorded track and click on "Copy" I get the "From" and the 3 boxes to the right of it and below that the "Thru" and the 3 boxes to the right. The song is about 74 bars long but when I try to type in 74 there is a maximum of just 4. What I did was just record another track because I was in a hurry to hear how it would sound like but for future reference would like to know how to copy a track and paste it to make a duplicate track without having to do a whole another actual recording. (2) How do I "Punch In" a solo? I know I could simply sit around recording a track and, when the time comes, simply turn up the volume and record the solo, but I want to do it the RIGHT way. (3) A Reaper question. I tried to drag some tracks from RB to Reaper but it seems that the MIDI tracks dragged over don't work on Reaper!! The RealTracks do but not the MIDI. What gives? (4) For the record, all I need to do is add some vocals now (and tinker a bit with the sound) and I've done my first ever computer recording, which I just found has me wondering (again). I like what I've heard and when I save it the extension is .SEQ. What does that mean? In fact, what does .SGU and .MGU mean? Do they designate that a certain song was saved from BIAB (like the .SGU and .MGU files) or RB (like the .SEQ file?) or?? Frankly, what I want now is to be able to make a listenable copy of the song and send it to my desktop. I know how to send stuff to the desktop but the .SEQ file isn't listenable. How do I make an MP3 out of .SEQ, or whatever I'm supposed to do? Truth be told, I don't want to tinker/experiment with the song too much because I'm afraid I might screw something up and have to redo some recordings and I'm just ready to move on from this particular song to another one. (Oh, after I add the vocals and a solo of course). Which brings me to this:

Real tracks are of course Audio so they play with no adjustments needed in Reaper, however, Midi needs to be assigned a synth to play each track. In Reaper you assign the synth just like any effect plugin. Of course you have to have the synth to assign. Remember any Midi track can be rendered in RB or BIAB during the Drag and Drop process so you can essentially move all you MIdi and RT's to Reaper as Audio with just the click of a button. What do you use as a sound source for your Midi in RB?

First off on the copy do a "select whole track" in tracks view click the number of the track (highlighting it), then right click in the area where either the midi data is or the audio wave file is, and click "select whole track", or ctrl A then go to an unused track and highlight it, and click ctrl V or paste.
Secondly, on punch in it is options/punchin, and chose the time line settings
Third, the reason Reaper does not play the midi is most likely you have not setup a synth yet.
I bet you have coyote wave table or such as default synth in RB, and Reaper does not have a default synth. You will have to tell it what synth you want to use.
Forth, .SEQ is RB, and .MGU, and SGU are BiaB. RB can open BiaB files but not the other way.

Just my soundcard. (Is that the right answer?) I think I lucked out when setting things up because both BIAB and RB worked "right out of the box", sort of speak. No hassle at all setting things up to work. Typed in my chords and hit playback and it worked from day 1.
Frankly, I'm not TOO concerned with Reaper because so far so good with RB. But I am worried that I might need more "volume" and Reaper would help with that. My first recording is fine but I'm pretty sure I had the "Master Volume" up most the way and the recording track fader up most the way as well yet the recorded playback seems kinda low. On one of the tutorials I saw this "volume problem" was fixed in Reaper but my snag is the Midi problem. I don't think it's my imagination (but it COULD me) but I seen to notice a fairly big difference between the playback in BIAB as opposed to the recorded playback in RB. Is there?
@Robh, Thanks. I'll mess around with that on some music that I don't care if it gets ruined.
I'll get to Reaper soon and find out how to set up the synth. There's always the forum THERE if I stress out too much.

How much new stuff can you handle at one time??

When you get tired of the low quality Midi sounds, give this a try. It is the best bang for the buck to improve the midi sounds via a DXi Synth.

@jazzmandan, I certainly don't mind paying for things I like. I am still on "evaluation" time for Reaper but if I don't end up getting it to do what I need, and WITHOUT too much of a hassle, I'll try something else. Everything went smooth until I actually tried to use it with a song from RB. I know there are lots of different things out there so what I can't grasp easily enough then I'll try something else which I might be able to grasp easily enough. Like both BIAB and RB, okay, for the most part. Frankly, I can't get over my "luck" at not having to do much of anything to get BIAB/RB to work. I wish everything was as easy. Indeed, I didn't know ANYTHING about setting up the "synth"/soundcard whatever and just clicked on stuff and after that BIAB/RB worked first time I tried it!! But there is the possibility I lost too many brain cells after I turned 60 and that's why I can't grasp some of this stuff faster. Right now I am here AGAIN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKkN78DfWRQ&feature=relatedWill watch that again tomorrow. I've actually checked on that program you linked to and I'll give it a try tomorrow. One thing I like about programs that COST is the tech support. Question. Will it install easily or will I have to do a bunch of thinking and clicking? (I'm tired of asking my kid to install stuff). And while I'm here, one thing I really like about Reaper is that the "arming" and "UNarming"? of MULTIPLE tracks is easy. Why isn't it easy with RealBand? I do have to say that although I might be asking a lot of questions I HAVE progressed. Now just trying to fine tune a few things that I feel are absolutely necessary for me to know in order to finalize songs to my liking.

Reaper can't give you anymore volume that any other DAW. That is gained by the incoming signal, the gain staging thru compression and master limiting.
Arming multiple tracks is simple with RB. Hold Alt, and click on the tracks you want armed to highlight them, and make sure that each is assigned to a separate input, then hit record.

@Robh, Thanks again. But, wow, my memory REALLY sucks. I did see the on-screen instructions on how to do that before but I was probably doing something wrong. Or worried that all the armed tracks weren't red like in Reaper. Apparently, in RB, only the latest arm track is red while the other previously armed tracks go to a greenish color. Anyhow, I just checked it out and I think it's either Shift+click or Ctrl+click. Got it now. @Jazzmandan, Downloaded Coyote ForteDXi and printed out the short instructions. I'll read them a bit later (I need breaks in between accomplishments. ) I read something on the screen before the download was finished (which I had copied but lost it by copying something else after it. ) and it specifically mentioned BIAB and I got the feeling that I won't have to change any settings to make it work with BIAB and RB. Or am I just hoping that's what the onscreen message meant? (I'm not COMPLETELY lame when it comes to computers mostly just don't like the hassles.) Frankly this is kind of the stuff that gets me frustrated because I don't know where the thing is (other than being listed as a Program). I'm pretty sure I'll have to change the setting in BIAB and RB so that these program will use that program, correct or it installed and will automatically be utilizew by BIAB and RB? I'll head over to the Reaper forum to answer the persons question from last night. I'll tell him I now have Coyote and see what developes. Thanks to you also for that Coyote recommendation. Again, I'm not the type who searches out free programs just because I don't want to pay. I don't mind paying for quality stuff plus the tech support sometimes comes in handy. As well as the forums. P.S. I've always liked them smilies on forums too.

Tracks should never be in the red, because if they are they are already clipping. You need to record and mix in the green with occasional spikes in the yellow. In the mastering stage you gain stage the volume with limiting plugs and such.

Sorry, but I meant the small BOX in the upper left hand corner of the tracks. It's RED when the track is armed but when you arm another track the previous one (still armed) turns green (more like barf green) and the newly armed track is red. On Reaper the BOX all stay red.

They will all stay red if you hold the Alt key.

Rokq, this is what I tried to tell you in the other thread. Forget Reaper for now. RB does everything you need. The few things it doesn't do or at least do well is way beyond what you need to spend time working on at this point.

Biab/RB latest build, Win 11 Pro, Ryzen 5 5600 G, 512 Gig SSD, 16 Gigs Ram, Steinberg UR22 MkII, Roland Sonic Cell, Kurzweil PC3, Hammond SK1, Korg PA3XPro, Garritan JABB, Hypercanvas, Sampletank 3, more.

Thanks, but it's too late now. I think I was determined to use Reaper as that guy in the video did. And I have. I FINALLY got a semi-finished song recorded and successfully uploaded to SoundCloud so now I can relax and concentrate on learning all this stuff better.
