Saludos Cordiales Carlos ante todo esperar que estés muy bien y saludar a todo el Foro Precisaría me confirmaras, si el BB es un programa de 64 bits o de 32, Sé que puede funcionar en una sistema operativo de 32 y también de 64, pero lo que me interesa saber es si el programa es de 64. Hola Manuel,
Como siempre bienvenido a este tu Foro.
Band-in-a-Box efectivamente está diseñado en 32 bits nativo, y como tu dices, es compatible con sistemas de 64 bits. En cuanto a la calidad del programa, trabajar en 32 o 64 bits no influye en la calidad de Band-in-a-Box, sino mas bién en su rendimiento en ciertas áreas, las cuáles son comunes a cualquier programa informático. Entre ellas el manejo de la memoria, los sistemas a 64 bits superan el límite de los 4 GB de memoria RAM presente en los sistemas de 32 bits, permitiendo así elevadas cantidades de memoria. Esto en realidad influye minimamente en el rendimiento de Band-in-a-Box, sin embargo algunos de nuestros usuarios están de acuerdo en que quizá el programa aprovecharía la mayor cantidad de memoria disponible al usar plugins e instrumentos virtuales de alto rango y consumo de memoria, como los que usan las librerias de muestras o "sampler" de gran tamaño, y más ahora que nuestra versión 2012 ha incorporado la capacidad de usar plugins en instrumentos virtuales en cada una de sus pistas e instrumentos. Menciono lo anterior porque es importante acotar que el modo compatible 32 bits en los sistemas operativos de 64, simula no solo el funcionamiento, sino también el direccionamiento de memoria con su máximo de 4 GB. Por lo tanto Band-in-a-Box seguirá utilizando un máximo de 4 GB de RAM (en realidad menos, debido a la forma como Windows 32 administra la memoria a los programas) en el modo compatibilidad de 32 en sistemas de 64 bits.
En mi experiencia personal, lo que si he notado es que, al usar Band-in-a-Box en modo compatible en Windows 7 64, la velocidad de respuesta del programa es mayor, se inicia en menor tiempo, y los tiempos de generación de las RealTracks también son mas rápidos. Aunque estas ventajas son inherentes a muchos programas de 32 bits trabajando en modo compatible en 64 bits, aqui se demuestra la solidez del código sobre el cuál esta diseñado Band-in-a-Box, lo que permite que pueda aprovecharse de dichas ventajas en los sistemas de 64 bits, aún cuando sea de 32, pero su calidad sigue siendo la misma en términos de resultados musicales y de audio. Por otro lado debo mencionar que si he notado mayor estabilidad en los sistemas a 64 bits comparados con "viejos" sistemas operativas como Windows XP o Vista.
En cuanto a los sistemas operativos mismos, debemos recordar que el modo compatible de 32 bits no está presente en ciertas versiones, por ejemplo, Windows 7 64 Home no lo posee, mientras las versiones superiores como Win7 PRO 64 si lo traen.
Hay que tomar en cuenta también algunos pequeños detalles de incompatibilidad entre componentes que tradicionalmente fueron usados conjuntamente con Band-in-a-Box. Por ejemplo, el instrumento o tabla de ondas virtual VSC DXi no trabajará en Windows 64, por lo que en nuestra version 2012 ha sido incorporado el mas reciente plugin, COYOTE FORTE DXi, para sustituirlo. También el TTS, el cuál viene con Cakewalk, trabaja perfectamente en 64 bits, y por supuesto la gran y vasta mayoría de plugins e instrumentos virtuales hoy día vienen para 32 y 64 bits, o al menos trabajaran en el modo 32.
Para terminar, en mi opinión y la de muchos, aunque la carrera mundial para subirse al vagón de los 64 bits ya está en marcha, no determina eso en modo alguno una desventaja para muchos de los actuales programas a 32 bits, incluyendo Band-in-a-Box. Es de suponer que al hacer una versión a 64 bits, obtendremos ciertos beneficios extras, pero la misma naturaleza de Band-in-a-Box, hasta los momentos en 32 bits, lo ha hecho perfectamente aprovechable en todos sus aspectos, funciones, capacidades y virtudes.

Saludos Cordiales Carlos como siempre es un placer leerte y aprender contigo, eres muy generoso con tus respuestas, son realmente gratificantes y de una gran discernimiento. Sobre lo que comentas en relación a la memoria RAM que el programa gestiona por ser de 32 bits, si que he observado que ante grabaciones de muchas pistas, en el momento de exportar, fusionar todo en estéreo... la memória RAM si que se nota, pero entiendo muy bien lo que me expones. De igual manera que tú, he podido comprobar que en un Windows 7 a 64 bits,la velocidad de respuesta del programa es mayor, se inicia en menor tiempo, y los tiempos de generación de las RealTracks también son bastante mas rápidos. (con un procesaror i7 a 16 Gb de RAM, es una maravilla, y como te decía antes, yo lo utilizo como sabes en Investigaciones de Musicoterapia y a veces preciso del estudio de grabación "Realband" entrar en profundidad en recursos como... muchas pistas, compresion de onda, efectos... y llego a "calentar" los drivers de la Asio de tal manera, que si no estoy en W7 a 64 y con los 16 de RAM... lo noto bastante, y todo se relentiza)pero tengo que reconocer que en PG Music, habéis conseguido realmente estabilizar Band in a Box de una manera genial, ya que muchos momentos el programa lo tengo que utilizar en ordenadores con recursos muy distintos, y esto de llevar el disco duro a dode sea, es muy práctico... y como te digo es muy estable en todos los equipos, pues aunque estemos acostumbrados a equipos potentes, aunque nos movamos en otros mas sencillos, Band in a Box, responde genial. De todas maneras... te hago una nueva pregunta sobre el mismo tema... estoy de acuerdo que Band in a Box es muy aprovechable en 32 bits... y mi pregunta es ¿no crees que en 64 bits aprovechando los nuevos procesadores de mas núcleos y llegar a los 32 Gb de RAM, la inmediatez de la edición nos ofrecería un ahorro de tiempo considerable? y me refiero a la edición que en su predominio es realtrack, audio... acústico... también otra pregunta al respecto.. crees tú que el pasar a 64, no mejora en nada las grabaciones en una frecuencia de muestreo distinta a la de 44.1, esto es en 48 y 96... o bien para grabaciones 5.1 u otras... si no en la calidad de lo grabado, si en la gestión de la velocidad e inmediatez de la edición... danos tu opinión al respecto, que seguro nos dará nuevas prespectivas. Confírmame si lo grabado en el Realdband a 44.1, es realmente su calidad de onda es desde unos 20Hz hasta los 20kHz, o existe alguna compresión... ya que en musicoterapia precisamos confirmar que no haya alteración sonora en lo grabado, y que la frecuencia de muestreo realmente respete la onda tal y como se está grabando... dime si al ser de 32 bits esto modifica en algo lo que te digo o no.
