friends...
most of the artists into my studio over the last two years are rappers. what they always seem to do is bring mp3's from youtube & expect to overdub vocals on top (i know, i know).
recently, I aquired B-i-a-B 2012...& realized that if there were more hip hop & rap styles, I could generate backup tracks for them & establish a local market at the same time.
so...how do I get ahold of killer rap & hip hop styles...???...are they there in 2012 & I simply missed them...???...are there 3rd Party sites or entities where these van be had...???
looking for answers...thanx

dox,
I have Ultra Pak Plus.
Just did couple of searches and there is a total of 52 styles under the hip hop genre, also 3 rap labeled styles.
Click on style button and go to the Hip-hop genre listing to see them.
Good luck !

PG needs to address this because rap and hip hop are by far the largest part of the music biz right now. People who don't know it need to understand it's not all gangsta b****** & ho's stuff. Far from it actually. I've heard some Christian rap and pure standard love song stuff. Most of the posters on this forum are older and have no clue about that but that's the truth. There are a few hip hop midi styles and there's a few Urban Real Drums but there should be a big expansion in that area imo. Bring in some rap guys to create some good RT's. Some of the new jazz I listen to definitely has some hip hop in it.

Don't forget you can make styles from midi files. Find a midi file representing the different style of hip hop you want and convert it to a BiaB style. For a detailed description of hoe to do that see this BiaB wiki page.

thanks guys...
but...are there independent b-i-a-b stylewriters out there, or collaborative communities or 3rd party style sites where these things can be had on a professional level...???

I would think that the more wide and varied the midi and RT styles PGMusic can incorporate into their products the wider the market potential. I believe more House, Hip Hop, Rap, etc. might increase sales.
Doxoloy, you should put this in the BiaB Wishlist forum.

Have you tried making your own styles? Under Styles> Style Maker> Edit Current Style it's not that hard to modify a current midi style to fit what you want. Or Make a New style from scratch, takes a little longer.

I Tom, yes I have modified, combined and made my own styles.
I am not a big hip hop, rap, house, etc. fan however I can see how having more of those styles might help PGMusic. I was trying to encourage those how want those styles to do so in the wish list forum.

This is also the kind of thing where you can use VST drum software, such as BFD or Addictive Drums, to bring some hip-hop to the mix. Not to mention the vast, vast number of loops out there.

Hip Hop stuff is predominantly done with Loops, is it not?
A websearch for "beatz" might yield what can be obtained that would work into your projects.
Many allow for the purchase of the Loops singly, as well.

Hello,
There are a few options within Band-in-a-Box and RealBand. If I wanted to do Hip Hop music I would personally use RealBand as you can layer multiple tracks and easily loop sections by using the cut and paste tools. Try generating a RealDrums track in RealBand and finding a few bars that you want played over and over again. Cut these sections then paste them on a separate track. Try adding effects to the track, like distortion or change the frequency using the EQ. I would also suggest generating a solo track for an instrument like a sax or a flute, clarinet maybe, and listening through until you hear a hook that you really like. Cut that part out, paste it multiple times on another track and then play it back with the drum beat. Do the same with a bass track, for this you could use MIDI or a RealTrack. Start with the drums for a few bars, then add the bass. Next throw the loop on top and leave a break for the verse. Make sure the person rapping has a catchy hook for the chorus (or you could sample one) and you've got a hip-hop song.

PG music has over the years created the best accompaniment and track generating products for jazz, and over the last couple of years, they've been doing country and pop rock with guitars very well too. These are music genres that were very difficult in the past to attain realism with a computer. Biab does it better than anybody for these styles and there is still a VERY large part of current popular music that falls into these categories. Rap is at the opposite end of the spectrum of the aforementioned styles. And the people that do rap are not going to buy biab. That's just not how they think. they don't think in measures and bars and pushes, and chords, it's a whole different mindset. Not dissing it, just saying it's not how they think. If you want to do rap and get high quality tracks, I got one word for you: Ueberschall. They have a lot of great styles in that genre, with construction sets to come up with a whole song. If you can't get quality rap tracks using their products, you're just not trying hard enough...

The OP just told you that he had, and would like it to be a better tool. That's why this is called the "Wishlist."
I personally would like it to be easier to use BIAB to produce ambient/New Age/space/classic electronica. Don't tell me that there are better tools for that; I own them. However, BIAB has a unique feature set that is useful in the creation of many kinds of music. Yes, it is heavily slanted towards jazz and pop, but I have been able to make several pieces of satisfying music in the above genres starting with BIAB. (I finish in Reason. I used to have to go to a third DAW, but Reason 6 is totally self contained.) Please don't disrespect us for wanting BIAB to do the job better in our chosen styles.
