Hi all

I've often wondered why there is so much copy music published on You Tube. Here in this forum we often discuss copyrights, but there is apparently not a problem on You Tube (?) Is there any good (or bad) explanation for this?

I thought they made a blanket 'contribution' for all the covers.

But I might poke around the net later.

For some reason I can't stay awake this morning.

I thought you can post covers and Youtube won't take it down unless the rights owner complains about it. I know I have clicked on a few favorites and found a display saying something like "this video has been removed at the request of the copyright owner".

Here is Youtube's page on using copyrighted material in the US including some video tutorials. Laws may (and probably do) vary by country.

I remember reading something about Youtube/Google striking some sort of deal that allows them to let users post certain copyrighted stuff, I think that Youtube contributes monies to Artist Royalty Distributors, maybe Harry Fox or another one.

I've never seen a fox that wasn't hairy.

Red though.

Makes a great edge to the hood on yer parka.

That's for up here eh?

In New Yawk, if youse says parka they think you put yer ride someplace.

As in, "Whed youse parka you caa".

And the IHOP thing confuses so many Canucks until we catch on.

For me pancakes are for putting in the fridge, and then spreading jam on them and folding them cold to eat. Make them thin though. Water down the mixture a bit with beer.

Well, in the states we have butchered the Queen's English to the point where we now PARK our cars in the DRIVEway, but DRIVE our cars on the PARKway, figger that'un out...

Quite a few videos linkted to from contributors here on this forum I cannot watch because YouTube and GEMA (the German performance rights organisation) couldn't come to a financial agreement yet. So the current agreement is that YouTube has blocked a lot of videos because the owner(s) of the rights have not permitted to show this video to users with a German IP address.

As long as I can watch a video, it either has no music in it, the music is not/no more copyrighted, the owner of the rights plays it -- or it is a violation of some copyright.
