I hope this doesn't come across like some blog. I do have some serious questions at the end...
First, I am pissed off.....at myself. Missed 5 days of practice for one reason or another. Bought a new house and having some mods done to it. Spent time thinking about how to structure my new home studio and what tiles to use in the kitchen and elsewhere....etc etc. Come practice time,..... what do I practice next? There is so much to learn! I am bored with what I am practicing. I hope others can relate to my feelings and empathise a bit. At the end of all that, I am tired, and fixing a G & T and seeing those beautiful bubbles clinging to the insides of the glass and dreaming of how good I could be (if I practiced more) seems a lot easier to do that dragging the sax out of the case!! Listening to Aubra Graves (on utube ..."jazzsaxtenor")...80 something old. His rendition of Misty tingles throughout my body all day! I know I can do it ...if I took the time. I have this awesome old CD player with an A/B switch, which allows me to set any point to point in a song and just keep repeating that segment!

Background...Some of you who tried to help me not too long ago to get TTS working with 2007..thanks. Not successful. I have Win 7 64 bit 8 gb ram. Currently using 2007. Going from an old VW to a Ferrari! To make a long story short and writing unnecessary info,... I ordered 2012.5 as soon as it was announced. But in avoiding unnecessary customs duties etc where I live, a friend from Toronto is bringing it for me. I will have it in my hands by Oct 1st.

My questions...
Ultrapack on a USB HD.
What do I do to get it up and running asap?
Do I uninstall 2007 from my notebook first? Does the uninstall remove all the bits automatically?
I want to run 2012.5 from the USB without loading it on my notebook HD. I believe that's possible.
What about the update patches to 2012.5? How do I apply them if I am running off the USB? Does applying the patches update the USB version?
Basically the question is ...What steps do I take to get 2012.5 up and running?

Thanks guys and girls.

p.s. How do I include a 'signature" in posts?

While the Band in a Box program itself does not need to write to the registry at install, bbw.exe being a totally standalone program, there ARE a few things that MUST be installed to the Windows Registry in order to use BB from either a portable USB drive or a USB stick. These are the Fonts, the DirectX plugins and any DXi synths that you may need to install.

However, if you invoke the BB Installer from the hard drive package after plugging into the machine, there is an option in the Installer dialog that will allow you to install just those things and not the entire shebang.

Once that is accomplished, that particular machine will not have a large amount of data installed to its C drive, but will have those three critical resources ready when you run BB from the stick or drive.

If you don't install those, the most critical would likely be the Fonts. Without the fonts, you likely won't be able to display the Chord symbols or Notation in BB. Of course, hving a DXi synth installed may also be critical as well, for the DXi synth is used for fast "Rendering" of a BB song to Audio .wav, .mp3, .wma, etc.
