My 1997 Carvin bass came with a nice molded case however the top has became a little warped.I don't really think it's an issue to worry about but I'd like to fix it. When the center is touching at the latch the opposite ends are about 3/4" up.I was thinking that if I used a heat gun I could get it flat again and hold it until it cools.BTW it's been this way for a while as a result of leaving it in a hot shed for a time. The bass was in the house.Any thoughts? I'll try it anyway.Can't hurt.

A heat gun may be a little drastic, try a hairdryer. It should be hot enough without doing any damage to the surface.

Sinbad, I doubt that a hair dryer would get hot enough or it would also burn your head when you used it. I would take a piece of wood, lay it across the case, put weight (cinder blocks? bricks? weight plates from your gym room?) on each side that is warped upward, and use the heat gun to warm it just like you thought. Walking around the case constantly so you don't melt it.... Or is you can do it long term, put it back in the hot shed laying flat and face down for a few years and let the heat warp it again in the other direction.

John, I was thinking direct sunlight. First, pre-stress it beyond normal shape, block or clamp it, then lay it in the direct sun for a few hours. I think that would be the safest method. At least it would do no harm to the finish. Just a thought.

Direct sunlight and manmade composites are not a good idea, the ultraviolet component in sunlight typically breaks down composites to something less desirable. A recipe for deteriorated plastics.
You would likely need to build a FRAME capable of holding the top in perfect shape and alignment, perhaps could be done with say, 2X2 and 1X2 pinewood.
Then you would need a temperature adjustable OVEN that the top would fit into.
Not as much heat as TIME here, I'm thinking.
You should also take the side that is not warped off of the thing before this treatment, likely at the hinge points, to prevent from warping the unwarped part.
Likely not worth the effort IMO, another case is readily available and prices aren't that bad.
