I"m a little confused in the difference in tempo for bluegrass as opposed to other types of music such as country. Why are bluegrass tempos in what I'd call "double time"? Also, the same goes for "train" tracks in Real Tracks. When entering chords for basic country, each measure is made up of four beats but in bluegrass each measure is eight beats long. When I enter chords in a style such as Docbg_F the end of a verse might come in middle of a measure so there is no way to transition from a to b style. I'm sure there is a logical explanation for this but it is sure beyond me. I'm trying to enter the chords for the old country classic "The Unclouded Day" using the Docbg_F style but the transition from the song introduction to start the verse is in the middle of the measure! Help!

Hi Knightsounds,
This has been a hot topic in the past and is likely to come around again.
I don't know why those bluegrass styles are done that way, but unless and until pgmusic development comes up with a better alternative, this is what it is.
There is, however, a way to get that transition bar to be in the middle of the measure, which is to RightClick on the bar in question and select the Bar Settings dialog, then enter the required number of beats for that bar in the little slot near the top of the Bar Settings dialog.
Be sure to also do the same thing at the next bar, but this time returning things to the original number of beats per bar or the song will continue playing with the truncated setting.
Will sound right, but won't "look" right...

Hi KnightSounds, Bluegrass in Band-in-a-Box is usually done as a 16th note based style. This is because bluegrass is usually played as a 16th note style (ie you tap your foot every 4 sixteenth notes, typically at a tempo around 120 for bluegrass). Bluegrass is **notated** in 8th notes in most music books, because they are entering it in 2/2 time, to avoid having to display 16th note rhythms if they wrote it in 4/4. We have a discussion about that issue here. In this link, there is a discussion, and also a link to an 8th note based Bluegrass style that you can use if you prefer (note that it you use a 8th note style, you will now have really fast bluegrass tempos, like 260 (instead of 130) http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=323010&an=&page=0&vc=1There's a longer discussion about it here... http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=264831&page=0&fpart=all&vc=1
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

Mac, I appreciate your help! I went to the measure and changed the property from four beats to two and it worked out great. I had to do this throughout the song but it sounds good. Again, thanks for your help JMK

Peter, Thanks for your post. It's good to hear from a person that I've known as one of the "drivers" for our Band in a Box and now Real Tracks! I am in the process if going through the information you gave. I have been a user of Band in a Box and Power Tracks for several years and have loved it. Now the Real Band and Real Tracks is an awesome addition! Also, I really have found the information in the various forums to be very helpful. Thanks again! JMK
