Have been very busy putting together 17 Kaleidoscope music video's to YouTube (so far). Bout half the songs were posted on the Showcase... Settled in on Great economical Screen Capture software. Didn't know if its appropriate to post the link here. will if its OK.
Anyway writing up the comments: We all use RealTracks one way or the other. Fully understand NOT to used credits to Brent, John etc.
But would statement in title be lousy, or maybe "Using Real Instruments"...
Know didn't need permission but want to stay with the "Norms"..
Thank you in advance!

Just post your work. Never explain things in advance. Let your audience decide if they like your offering or not entirely on their own. If you must say something, just mention the software and hardware products used in the production. "This recording was produced using Band in a Box and Realband from www.pgmusic.com" And then see what your audience has to say about your offering. --Mac

Mac,
Excellent answer. The music itself is intended presentation...
I give credits to PG Music in/on all music created using their products. Would not be where I am without them, and of course forum members.
Never crossed my mind, list short summary of the hardware used.
Thank you.
Been using PG Music products with link. Would it be better to say BIAB and RealBand with PG music link ?

why should you not use Brent, John, etc.? Has this been discussed or prohibited? I mean, they really ARE the artists who played on your songs! not much different than if you hired a session musician for your recording and then credited them, right? I recall reading a post somewhere here on the forums where it was suggested that you DO use the names of the artists who play on the RealTracks in your credits. plus I see no reason to include credits on youtube.
but if you're releasing a CD its gonna look odd without them. so what should you put? in no case would I ever include a credit for the software as I think this will "cheapen" your CD in the eyes of your audience. too many people are gonna quickly dismiss it as something generated by a computer even if you wrote the song, arranged everything, sang and played some of the instruments!

Because Brent, John and all others are not really playing on your songs. The excellent Real tracks and real drums (and now the super midi stuff) are recorded samples that have been provided via Pg Music and you have arranged the playing based on the chord progression entered. On my CD (if I ever get back around to it), I'll say nothing or "Additional Instrumentation courtesy of PG Music."

Outside of it being misleading to the buyer by insinuating they were there and recorded parts, if you put their names on the CD don't you have to pay them a performance royalty for every unit sold? Plus the legal fees when they sue you for putting their name on it without their permission?

Never intended for this to be a controversial thread sorry bout that. I just did extensive search for the previous discussions on credits. It was a bit testy here and there. Am lousy "seeker" on these forums, could not find. On my CD, gave credits to PG Music, and members of this forum. Plus my parents who got me into music. http://www.mp3cloud.mobi/CD_art5.zip Long discussion on this. Not eye grabby, hit parade stuff, but communicated what I wanted. Was mainly a fun project, something off my bucket list. I lucky to be retired, so music is a joy and super hobby to take part in with you folks. Not missing any meals, so very lucky.

Opinion, but close enough to the business to know that players get paid for their work. You'd get the extra cent or so as composer, but credited players get royalties.

So just to clarify, if I submit an original work/song for copyright registration that includes a sample drum track from BB among my own recorded tracks, I am not legally required to mention, provide notice, obtain sample license, etc. of PG Music and BB as the source of the track. Is this correct?
Thanks for your help!

Someone from PG should reply to this, or at least put a statement on the website about attribution.
It is a bit of a gray area. PG touts the fact that Brent Mason is one of the players on RB/Real Tracks.
Most likely users of RB are excused from any attribution comments and credits. But this is speculation.
I wouldn't want to go the other way and open the door to lawsuits by claiming that certain studio artists played on a track that used RB.

I am not a PG staff member.... But based on other copyright postings and discussions. Quote:

I usually just tell people that I played all of the instruments. They are usually very impressed.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
