I had BiB 2004 and it came with a product called Slow Blast which allowed me to slow down and loop any .wav file.

I recently bought BiB 2012 and can't find Slow Blast. My old copy of Slow Blast won't run with Windows 7.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

I haven't tried this, but do you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate? If so, you have a Windows XP emulator. Might work.

Windows 7 Home does not have the emulator.

Slow Blast was pretty good. You are correct, I haven't seen it in BIAB in years. The step-up program, if I recall correctly, was called Slow Gold. Maybe that still exists out there somewhere?

I believe this was replaced by the Practice Window. See the icon with the big P? Open that, there's Woodshed tempo plus Tempo percent buttons, 1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8.

If you're not asking about slowing down a song for practice but you simply want to change the speed of any wav file, go to Real Band, import the file and then activate the pitch/time shift function. The new Elastique works really well, you can time shift a lot and it still sounds good.

I used to use Slowblast for slowing down recordings in manual Transcription of same.

Now I use Audacity.exe, which has a very convenient system of slowing down the file without changing Pitch and the added advantage of leaving a lot less in the way of digital artifacts. You can also Highlight a section of an audio file that may be hard to hear and use the Loop playback feature to have it play over and over while you figure it out.

Audacity is free download from Sourceforge -- do a websearch to find out where to get it.

I've been using this since SlowBlast fell off the radar:

The looping feature is especially handy.

Robert:
Have you ever tried something called "mTrax" It works great for changing pitches, looping ect on just about any wav, mp3 or other file. I also used slow gold at one time. Worth looking at... good luck!

SlowBlast, as far as I can tell, has been discontinued, but SlowGold (it's big brother) is still available for purchase.

SlowGold is $40, but there is a try-it version that you can download.
