After I have completed a song in BB using Real Tracks, I have always recorded the completed song in real time directly into Adobe Audition 3.0.1 . This has always been satisfactory, however I recently have wondered if there is a way to create the .wav from within BB without using another program. I believe rendering with Coyote WT is used for midi, not Real Tracks? How is everyone else going about converting the finished BB song (with only Real Tracks) to a .wav or MP3? Is recording into a 3rd party program the best way, or is there a better way?
thanks Mal

Hi Mal, The way that I create wav files is to use the "Render MIDI to stereo wav file etc." that's found under the "Audio" link on the main menu. This works with MIDI, Realtracks and any audio that's been recorded into BIAB. There's a whole section in the instruction manual pdf that explains this much better and in much more detail than I can. I have BIAB 2013 and it's on page 332 of the guide for my version. (If you have an earlier version of BIAB, have a look in the index for the chapter that's headed "Working with Audio" - it's chapter 11 in my manual.) The BIAB User Manual pdf if found as a link under the the BIAB folder in Window's Start Menu. It should also be possible to drag and drop the tracks directly from BIAB to Adobe Audition. After you've had a read of this section in the manual, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Part of my usual plan of attack when mixing songs is to render the tracks to wavs and then load these individual wavs into Reaper where Mix them and then render the tracks to a single wav file. Regards, Noel

Band in a Box uses the DXi MIDI synth as an audio mixing engine to accomplish the FAST Rendering of a bb song to a digital audio file, whether you choose to make a full on uncompressed .wav file or one of the compressed formats such as mp3, wma, etc.
If your song ahs no MIDI and is all Realtracks, the DXi synth must still be checked and invoked in the Options -> MIDI/Audio setup window in order to take advantage of the Fast Rendering.
It will render Audio tracks to these formats as well as any MIDI tracks. If your song has no MIDI tracks in it, it will still Render the realtracks to audio exactly as you mixed them.

Thanks for the tips Noel and Mac
It appears the advantage of the fast rendering is the convenience and speed (an 11m song took just over 2 minutes!) And sound quality (to my ears anyway) seemed identical to real time recording. However by recording in real time into Adobe Audition, I can edit each real track individually as it is being recorded (volume, panning, reverb etc) I can also see the waveform for spikes etc
after a bit of thought, I will probably stick with Audition...
thanks again Mal
