Merry Christmas all - I want to import an audio file into BIAB (Audio/Import Audio), play it by itself (solo Audio, or Styles/uncheck Style is Enabled), select a range of measures (click and drag) and have it play/repeat those measures (F10), and I want to be able to change the playback speed without changing pitch (click tempo control arrows).
All works well except the tempo part. I can indeed change the tempo during playback as described, but after stopping, the audio playback speed returns to the original, although the tempo box display does not, remaining at the last selected tempo.
Can someone tell me how to easily change the tempo(hopefully in real time)? If I could just make the audio playback time stick I'd be home free.
Or is there another way in BIAB to go about this. I'm so close.

I don't try to use BB for audio stretching per se, although it should work and you've seen that it does work, it is just that it didn't stick in what you tried.
**Did you do a SAVE of the song immediately following ascertaining that the changed Tempo was indeed what you desired. If not, the original .wav file is still there to reload on you, likely what happened.
**Perhaps using the REPLAY button for the second playback and succeeding would make the change stick, hitting "PLAY" or its new designator in bb2013, "GENPLAY" is likely forcing not only a regeneration of the autoaccompaniment parts, but of that stretched audio as well.
When I need to change Tempo of audio for use inside BB, I use the free Audacity.exe program as an audio editor, open the target audio file there and use the Effects menu command to change speed without changing pitch. Then save that as a .wav or evn .mp3 file and rename it to the exact same name as the bb songfile, with the different suffix, of course, and drop it into the same folder where the songfile is stored. Then, when opening the songfile in bb, that same named Audio file automatically opens on the Audio track along with the songfile.

Thanks Mac. I would normally go to another program for this, but I'm trying to work through this for a newbie to both BIAB and electronic music, and hope to do this function (for play-along practicing) without confronting her with yet another a new program - BIAB is getting comfortable for her.
I tried your other ideas but no joy. Seems like the audio playback speed is reset on stop.
Best I can do so far is select a range, start a loop (F10), click tempo down, and the speed will stay decreased for multiple loops. Hit the space bar, back to original.
More Ideas?????????????????????

It was there all along. To change the playback speed of the audio track - go to menu Play/Tempo, then take your pick of speeds.

Yes, and ctrl - is a hotkey for half speed, and ctrl = is normal speed.
