I keep getting the message Error or Cancelled out of routine error code=2 Cannot open the output.WAV file
After running several trouble shooters I've come up with the fact that Media Player will not close properly and allow BIAB or Realband to access a wave file that was already recorded in BIAB. Does anyone have any idea how to remedy this situation?

In the way of proving that, I'd hit ctrl-alt-del and when the Windows Task Manager opens I'd take a look at the Running Processes listing using the right tab at top, whatever its called in the different available Win OS's, locate Windows Media Player, click it once to highlight and tell the Task Manager to End Process.
Then I'd try opening that .wav file in BiaB and see whether or not this is really a WMP problem.
Are you running as Administrator when you run BiaB or at least using a Profile that has been assigned Administrator privileges? That might be what's really causing the problem.
It would be nice to know what your particular Operating System is, that can affect the answers you will receive as there are indeed differences.

Sorry Mac,that I didn't include that information when I posted my query.
I'm running Windows 7 (Professional) on HP Compaq Presario, and yes I'm running as the administrator. I just get so frustrated when I've run every fix that windows has for sound and nothing fixes. One fix did tell me I had some corrupted files but not what they were or how to fix them. I've come to hate Windows Media Player because when someone sends me a music file and I download it, it goes directly into Media Player and I can never again find the file. And there's no help button to push in Media Player.
I'm about ready to junk it! I've been searching Microsoft forums looking for solutions too.
The last message I got just said: Couldn't open wave device...the likely cause is that another program is using the audio playback or has left the driver open. The only two programs I could think of would be Media Player and BIAB that I have been using. I've been working on this all day and getting nowhere.

Try Firefox for your web browser. It includes its own Mozilla download manager and you can control the options, redirecting from forced play in WMP to Save somewhere instead.
AND, Firefox is so much faster than IE...

Thanks Mac, I will try that! The older I get the harder it is to learn new things but hopefully this may relieve some of my frustration.
