Hi

I have often read that when a Realtrack style is loaded for a song and you press GenPlay (green arrow) the Realtracks re-generates each time and a different arrangement is produced. What is BIAB actually doing during this process, I assume its somehow finding different variation of the style. If this is the case can we pick these Realtrack variations manually from the Stylepicker ?

Question 2, I sometimes just want say a Realtrack Bass and Realdrum in a song by selecting these individually without loading a complete style. Is there a 'Blank' style name I can load in the style name box (just below the song title). I don't particularly want to create a new style as these Realtracks may only be for one song, but also I don't want to open the song several weeks later and think the name already in the style window is the one I used.

Thanks

Glen

QUESTION #2:

If you are looking for a style that is totally blank, look in the Utility/Misc style folder. There should be 4 of them to use.

4/4
3/4
STRAIGHT
SWING

BLANK.STY
BLANKSW.STY
BLANK34.STY
BLANK3SW

For question 2 that's exactly what I was looking for, many thanks.

There are intellegent algorithms involved with the assembly of each virtual performance, I know of no way to manually force or select patterns picked, other than allowing the GEN to redo the operation. This is not a bad thing, actually, for I think that taking things down to that kind of manual process would be a rather daunting and long process, thinking about the amount of time it has taken me to use the StyleMaker to roll my own MIDI based styles. Realtracks would make that process even longer, I should think. There may be a way to edit the .st files such that one could force particular patterns, again this would be for the intrepid types and I'd expect the amount of time it would take to do so would again be something I'd rather avoid. After all, Band in a Box is an Autoaccompaniment program first and foremost, the emphasis is on the "auto".

I used to just Rightclick on the Style slot and choose "Disable Style" command. Whatever stylename that was loaded will still appear there, but will have a big X at the front of the filename, indicating that it is not operating when I load the song.

With the advent of the new 2013 release, we now have a one-button solution that will allow us to create our own style from the Realtracks selected and so I now like using it that way. Once your favorite combinations are saved with your own stylenames, the slot will indicate that and selecting the combo again is as easy as selecting any already created style.

I have had some success manipulating the phrases of realtracks in Real Band. Once you have a reatraks part that you like, try highlighting a phrase you like and copy-paste it to a different place in the song.

The Multi-riff generator in Realband is another way of choosing Realtracks phrases for you parts.
