Lets hope I get the answer/s I need.
I currently have a convoluted setup ( 2 mixers + M-Audio USB) that works but clutters up my little studio. I am running an Acer notebook/ Windows 7 at present.
I have started doing some research and checking for a new mixer with more/better functionality and the M-Audio Fasttrack C600 was suggested by the equipment supplier I frequent.
The only thing is he has NEVER heard of BIAB or RB and keeps on showing me the Cubases' etc to "prove" that it will do what I believe I need.
So here goes:
I see that the C600 has 6 inputs. I have a Digitech Voicelive4 and my Guitar and my NT2A Mic goes into that I then take the guitar thru and the mic out into say Input1 and Input2 I have a friend who sometimes jam with me so I need another Mic and Guitar , I assume Input3 and input4
I also need to bring BIAB/RB into the Mix in order to monitor/hear the mix. (will this now make the M-Audio USB soundcard redundant) or do I have to bring the M-AUDIO USB output back into the C600?
When I record in RB onto a track , can I choose which C600 input gets channelled to the selected track? I only want to record 1 of the devices ...but I still want to monitor to all the rest as a mix ....
I have downloaded the manual and from the content think that you could assign an input channel to an output using the input monitor driver software. the question then is if I dump my M-Audio USB and the output goes into the PC through the USB then how will RB "select only Input(n)"
I hope this makes sense ...

Realband handles multiple input sound devices differently than Band in a Box does, you can assign which Inputs and Outputs are available from the Tracks View, by the track.
Other than that, I don't foresee any problems, but bear in mind that I have not had hands on experience with that particular M-Audio device.
However, M-Audio is noted for very good drivers and follow on support. And, we know that BB and RB work and play well with other, older M-Audio sound devices from user reports. I have used the Audiophile and the Delta 1010 M-Audio cards with pgmusic products successfully over the years. Others have reported much the same good results using some of the M-Audio USB devices, such as the discontinued Fast Track and Fast Track Pro.
If the Direct Input Monitoring on this particular mentioned new model works as the Direct Hardware Monitoring does on the older offerings, then, yes, it should be able to configure such that you can route those inputs accordingly. Be advised that the way of thinking and methodology is different from what you likely are used to doing, there will be a little bit of a learning curve to that, not too bad IMO. Read all documentation through before attempting to install the thing, make sure you understand all directions before proceeding, many times problems happen to folks because they don't take that step with the newly acquired goody.

I have two rigs right now, and have used both effectively I have an old MAudio 2496 card, and it has always ran like a champ. I have it connected to a Yamaha mixer and as you noted it takes up most of my space. My second rig is a Tascam US-800 with 8 inputs 6 analog and 2 digital. I have my voiceworks attached to the digital inputs and RB can see all of them. I am not super happy about how it "sees" them, but hey it works fine.
I do not like how USB interfaces can be slightly buggy on start up, but once they are working it is fine. I do like the way the old mixer has so much fine tunability (if that is a word) I find it hard to get the best setup for me, and am somewhat frustrated at times.

Yes, but there's a trick question in there. You select which input(s) you record, and it will record the default (or first) chosen input to the selected track. The rest will go on the next available blank track(s). So you can decide which inputss get recorded, but when they get recorded they go on a series of tracks. SYou can choose which input goes to the selected track, but the rest of the inputs (if selected more to get recorded too) will get writeen to the next available tracks. So you can't control where the rest of the tracks go. It happens programmatically.
Usually that's fine, (never bothered me) but I've heard people whine about just about everything..
..and that's just today..
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

This seems to make sense now, does it mean that I will not need the M-Audio USB anymore?
Is this thing a sound card as well?
