I don't have a midi keyboard,yes I have a keyboard that can make midis, but not a true midi keyboard.Mine is USB connected.Now forgive my stupidity, but I have a question regarding midi keyboards. I hope you understand what I'm trying to get across so bare with me. I use BIAB to make a song, I then can make either an audio or a midi file of said song. I can either use the audio file in my DAW or use the midi file and assign the proper VST instrument to the files. Now my question is,lets say I have a Sax or Trumpet or other wind instrument as one of the midi files. Can I then somehow route the midi through the midi keyboard and make adjustments with say a mod wheel and then have that go to the DAW?I know I can do the same if I were to play the keyboard as that instrument in the DAW and make the midi file. Unfortunately for me I cannot play a keyboard well enough to do this, so I thought if I can have the midi file that BIAB produced for me and then just tweak it as it's playing I could get better results. For all the expert midi people out there, is this possible or am I barking up the wrong tree? Like I said earlier frogive my stupidity. Thanks for any help.

Hey Leonard, I'm not a midi expert by any means, so I'm not in a position to answer your question, but, the fact that you don't know something does not make you stupid, so don't apologize for having to ask a question, that's why we have this forum. Most of the folks here are very knowledgeable about different aspects of the BIB mechanics and would be glad to answer your questions. BTW, we all learn from these questions.

Then it would have to be a MIDI keyboard. Just because it may not have the round MIDI connects on the back doesn't mean it isn't using MIDI, it may only be using MIDI through a USB port. Same thing.
It is possible to overdub Continuous Controllers such as modwheel, pitchbend, volume, expression, in realtime just as in overdubbing notes.
This may be easier to accomplish using RealBand rather than Band in a Box, however, since BB records via the Thru track to either the Melody or Soloist track.
It likely can be done in Band in a Box as well, by paying particular attention to the MIDI channel on which the target track resides and setting the keyboard to send only on that channel, but I'd load the MIDI file into Realband where each channel should come out on its own individual track, readily viewed, easily recorded to.
To "overdub" means to record overtop of an existing track, but telling the program not to erase existing data on that track. That way, anything you do on the keyboard while recording will be added to what's already there, whether it consists of just Continuous Controllers or even adding more notes.
This can also be done with the mouse in PianoRoll view, check out the dropdown slot on the RH side to see the various CC's to select from, you could pick modwheel and then just draw them into the lower pianoroll window with the mouse, right under the notes.
