Have just started using 2013 (build 366) I hear some occasional clicks, like something is distorting, but it can not be seen on the peak meters though, any ideas?

Yes. Here are a few general ideas.

First, please tell us about your computer. Download and run Geekbench which is free. If your computer is not fast enough, there are three settings to try in Opt., Preferences, RealTracks.

If you can tell us more about what you are hearing and the steps you take when you hear this noise, it could help. Is this on playback or on your recordings?

Are you using ASIO? What is your MIDI Output setting, and is DXi checked?

Do you use a wireless network? Try temporarily disabling it.

Download and run the free utility, DPC Latency Checker. Directions are on the web page.

I don't often use Biab more often RealBand, but this is a Biab issue. I have chosen a style, input some chords, nothing fancy, just letting Biab generate the rest, actually it was for trying out the new biab version :-)

My PC is a HP pavilion running win7
and with an Intel i7 core, 8 GB ram,
my earlier Biab version was 2011 and I've never heard this phenomenon before!

Well, your computer is certainly not slow, so Geekbench is not needed and you don't have to use the slow RealTracks preferences. I stand by the rest of my advice, though, and still think the answers to my remaining questions might help.

Can you describe the noise, or better, record it for us to hear?

I haven't experienced it, but I remember seeing something about clicks being caused by SampleTank not being registered (or something like that). If you're not using SampleTank then that's obviously not the problem.

Good luck

I could send you my Biab file, is there a way to make this file public to you?

Wait - are you saying the noise is only on one song? If so, and you are using RealTracks, you should mute tracks until you find the one with the noise, and then tell us the number of that RealTrack. Is it always on the same chord?

It's starting at bar 20, sound like a short stumble, the odd thing is that if I import the biab file into realband (guess the tracks are then converted to wave files) I don't hear this, but if you could tell me how I may send the biab file to you (it's only 3-4 KB) you could maybe try if it plays ok on your Biab setup ?

Hi Strat, I've been following this thread with interest. I couldn't pick up any clicking sounds from playing the file. Do they always occur at a particular beat of the bar, and always at bar 20 or 'randomly' start near bar 20?

You may consider to start Windows task Manager (right-click on the task bar) and monitor the CPU and Memory performance while the track is playing, and report back what the 'overall' values are, and do they change at the point that the problem starts. If your O/S supports Resource Monitor (e.g. Win7 / Win8) you can monitor the exact performance requirements of the Band In A Box program.

Can you also confirm that it only happens with this exact file, and no others, e.g. have you extensively tested with other song files to have confidence that it never occurs on the other files?
Regards
VideoTrack

Hi!

I have actually only tried this one file, I'm not a Biab user but more a RB user but I intend to go into making some backing tracks for band rehearsing purposes. If you could give some suggestions on setting up Biab with respect to Midi (synths)etc., based on the add ons that's included in version 2013, my real interrest is RB as a multitrack sequencer/recorder and I could use some hints on setting up Biab properly. My first attempt you've just heard (forget the click problem)at bar 7 I succeed in making a turnaround pause, but just can't seem to pick up the beat Again at bar 8, can you maybe´give a hint on how, ( If I had my guitar I could easily show you what I mean ;-)

If what you did is to invoke a Bar Setting at that bar, with perhaps a Tempo Change there, you also have to do a Bar Setting at the following bar and change the Tempo back to the original setting or BB will dutifully continue playing at the lower tempo you set in the one bar.

Mac! Don't know if you have listened to my Biab file but what I want to do is to make a natural sounding pause and then take up the beat Again at the turn around. I have used chord settings for this and what I do when I play my guitar is some kind of musical delay, (I think) If you take the good old Johnny B. Goode progression A-D-A-E-A-D-A-E-A-EEEEE -A when you're on EEE-you accentuate the beat, don't know if you get what I mean :-) I would call EEEEEE_A a turn around and how do you make that natural sounding in Biab ?

The Johnny B Goode turnaround is just two bars of the E7 and the A is the first bar at the top again.
