Hello, I'm new to BIAB and have used it to create a few songs this year. However, I also know I have RealBand but not sure how to use it or if I actually need it? I've just updated to RealBand 2013 v4. I've opened a BIAB song in realband but there is no sound despite seeing Realband play the song. It looks like Realband is not playing through my sound card but if thats the case I don't know how to change it? I would be grateful for some help please.
Thanks Paul

Update.
Reset back to factory settings and managed to get sound back.
I just need to learn more about Realband now. Still unclear of it's purpose or functionality?

Still unclear of it's purpose or functionality? To start with RB has 48 tracks. You can regenerate parts and mix/match to your hearts content with the editing tools or mixer. It allows multiple ports; use many sources for sound, including ability to play 32 different synths (if you so choose) or tryout a bunch of different Realtracks, styles, etc., record from 8 or 16 inputs once, or more if your system is capable. It's the logical next step for BiaB since it combines DAW features with BiaB features. Start playing with it and have fun. Select the next blank track on a BiaB song in RB and generate new parts. Or record yourself singing it four or five times .. with the ability to keep what you want from each one .. then do it again for harmonies. So many new things you can do in RB that are difficult (if even possible) in BiaB.

I've just recently discovered that you can create solo's easier than in BIAB, especially small fills at the right places.
Create a new track, select your style for that track, highlight the section where you want it and generate. Voila.
Also easier to delete the ones that did not work. More visual as to where it is exactly....
I'm doing allright for Country Trash ....
I used to care, but things have changed (Bob Dylan)

As I understand it:
Real Band is a DAW. Digital Audio Workstation.
When you create a song in BB it has real tracks in it but may styles are midi and sound like "midi".... it may sound OK but nothing to really write home about..... but there is a better way.
Save and close the BB file. Then open it in Real Band. RB will generate the tracks as audio using the most appropriate RB tracks and players.
I use RB exclusively to generate tracks for use in the songs I write. I follow the path I outlined above. Not only can I generate the bass, piano, drums, and guitars.... but I also use RB to create the fiddle, steel, and other tracks that may or may not be included as standard in the given style I chose.
For example the hard rock styles rarely have fiddle, steel and dobro, but I can easily add those instruments using RB to generate them.
Go and listen to some of my songs..... they all (with very few exceptions) are RB generated tracks. I play guitar, mandolin, and piano, so many of those tracks are me playing and not RB.

You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.
