I find the volume of Pop_3_4.STY is much lower than other styles such as Country swing. I want to boost the volume of but have no luck from working with Stylemaker grids. Can anyone help? Mine is version 2012 build 348. Thanks.

There are a couple of ways to do this - before doing either, make a copy of the style - that way if you screw something up, you haven't lost the original.
First load the style and then open the StyleMaker (Ctrl+Shift+F9)
The easy way (not advised):
Click the Misc button ... check the Allow Volume Changes With Style button ... adjust the volumes -- WARNING, the volumes will stay high for the next style so if you do this, you have to check the box on all the other styles
OK the hard way:
For each instrument, Click Pattern in the StyleMaker menu bar ... Choose VELOCITY adjust by this much (ALL PATTERNS) ... When the dialog box appears, type in a number and click OK ... repeat for the other instruments.
My advice before doing the above: First check a number of patterns by clicking on them and then clicking the V button to see how loud they are - remember you can't exceed 127 or you will lose dynamic response of the pattern. Also, do this a little at a time, depending on your synth, a little change in velocity can make a big change in the output.
Why VELOCITY? Velocity is related to volume. In the early days when end-user synths used mostly an organ type keyboard, the synth measured the time it took from the moment you pressed the key until it bottomed out. Shorter times meant you pressed the key faster (thus velocity) and if you pressed the key faster, you must have pressed it harder (as in a piano), so the sound must be louder.
On better synths, velocity relates to more than volume, the most common being brightness. Most instruments get brighter when struck, plucked, bowed, or blown harder.

Mine is version 2012 build 348. Thanks. Hi jazzerjbird, Pop_3_4.sty is one of the older all-MIDI styles. A certain number of these older MIDI styles are indeed at lower velocities or volumes, if you will, due to how they were created, and at a time when these differences weren't so prevalent. PGMusic later created an easy, one-shot solution for the problem, though. Hit the Prefs toolbar button, then, in the Prefs Window. locate the "Arrange" button in the top row and hit it. At the top right of the Arrange window is a command, "Normalize MIDI Volumes to..." Checking that box and then entering an appropriate number into the slot next to it can solve this problem for you. Try entering a value of "90" for starters, but don't be afraid to revisit and tweak that number accordingly until it sounds good on your particular system. This routine uses MIDI Velocities by taking a look at the existing Velocities in the Style file and intelligently boosting as necessary. Almost works like an Audio Compressor with a fixed kneepoint, only it uses MIDI Velocities to address this particular problem. Works very well IMO. Yet another example of Band in a Box genius in methodology, giving us a way to use those older styles that weren't as loud sounding with the newer styles that are. --Mac
