Anyone know which set(s) (IF ANY!! confused ) contain the following bass patterns:

(1) In the key of A I'm looking for an uptempo rocking bass pattern like this: A F# E F# / A F# E F#, etc.. An example of this pattern would be in the song "I'm Going Home" by 10 Years After.

(2) The other bass pattern I'm looking for, in the key of A would be a slower, blues pattern like this: E Ab A Bb B / E Ab A Bb B, etc. or something similar. An example of this pattern is in the song "My Babe" by Little Walter.

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to explore the bass tracks in BB/RB using different styles. If it's a rock song try the bass tracks in real band using country or jazz or some other genre.... there are some interesting things in those other tracks.

It only takes a few seconds to regenerate the bass track in real band..... so start at the top and work down the list...make notes as you go.

You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

You might try entering as slash chords to force that baseline, if its on the quarter note beat.

Ex: A, A/F#, E/A, A/F# etc.

Ex: E, E/G#, A, Bb, B7

NOTE the use of the enharmonic, using G# instead of the Ab keeps BB "thinking" in key.

Thanks Mac! I had forgotten about using the slash chord for the bass!! blush

Anyhow, the first one works, so it's one down one to go. laugh But how do I type in the second pattern? The first 3 bass notes (E, G#, A) are quarter notes but the Bb and B are eighth notes. (OMG, do I even know what I'm talking about? confused)

@Guitarhacker,
You're right. I need to spend time checking out all the different styles. I was just being impatient. As usual.

Cheers

rokq,

In addition to Mac's idea, another possibility is to use the HiQ midi sounds and notate your own bass using the Notation Editor.

What I'd do is to load in the Bass track from a midi style, generate it, modify the notes to suit and then freeze the track. It's a little more time consuming but it will allow you to get exactly what you want. I've used some high quality midi basses and I like them.

Just my two penny's worth.

Regards,
Noel

You can try expanding the bars such that each bar is in effect one half of a full bar. Set the Tempo to twice what it originally was.

Then, what used to be a quarter note beat is now an 8th note beat, in effect.

This works better with some styles than with others.

OR, as Noel points out, you can roll your own MIDI bass part using either Note-Entry methods or Recording MIDI from keyboard or other MIDI instrument controller.
