I've learned how to apply a tag ending. It only plays the tag 1x. Can I specify the number of times the tag plays?
Thanks

No. The Tag plays from a measure number to another measure number. If you wanted the Tag to play longer, you could just copy the measures in the current Tag and then adjust the ending measure number.

And, welcome to the Forum!

You'll probably get better answers but in the meantime...

I relate to "tag endings" as the last thing that happens in a song after X number of choruses have repeated. So, I wouldn't want the tag to repeat.

But if I DID want it to "repeat" I would copy/paste it to double its length. In other words, if the tag is 8 measures, I would just copy those 8 measures and paste them after the 1st 8 and poof...you have a 16 measure "tag" that plays through once but in effect, "repeats" itself.

There are Probably are much more elegant solutions than the above.

Best,

Jim

I simply unfold to one big chorus and copy and past the tags as many times as I need....

usually 3x but I think...I Know You're Up To It... on my soundclick page has a 5x tag.

@Guitarhacker....When you do that...how many pages does it take to print charts??? I haven't had the time to experiment so your experience would be helpful.

Since I don't gig with BIAB, I just create the chord changes for songs "as written" in a fake book...print out the result and add all the arrangement stuff in pen and ink.

I don't print charts normally. By the time I get to the recording stages, I have played it many times and know the chord changes.

I did do it once for a piano player who played on something I wrote in BB. The charts will vary in size since IIRC, you can determine how many measures per line and that affects the total page count.

I've had some on one page and others on 3 pages.

Absolutely!

If we are going to perform it - and a recording is indeed a performance, one in which there will exist a permanent record of the performance - we should do whatever it takes to first KNOW it!

True...but most of use use various rhythm section sidemen from one gig to the other. Just last week we had a reqest for Stormy Monday.

I asked our keyboard player if he had a chart (he didn't) so we just rolled it out. After the gig, the bass player asked why I wanted a chart since he'd played it the same way for decades.

I told him that T-Bone played it SEVERAL different ways himself...and because the Allman Bros version (which the vast majority of today's audiences are more familiar with) played it differently than T-Bone did.

Hey...we got away with it...but it wasn't tight...hence my query about a chart.

(-:

But back to my basic question. If, for whatever reason, we elect to simply unfold the song and not use repeats, 1st/2nd endings...tags etc. will the song print exactly like it appears in the software...say...with all 60 bars if a 12 bar form unfolds to 5X through?

Thanks!
Jim

If you print using the Leadsheet view, you do not have to print the repeated sections.

Printing from Leadsheet and also using Fakesheet mode is even nicer.

Take advantage of the Print Preview feature there, which is a true WYSIWYG and use that to make sure that you have things set up as desired before wasting ink and paper.
