The song I am entering (chord charting) as 13 bars in the first and second choruses, do on the printed chord chart I would like to break after the first chorus by inserting a place marker (empty bar) without data, and without causing an incremental increase to the bar numbers. The music plays fine, but without that break the chord chart is too hard to follow.
This place marker has shown up in previous charts when I don't need it, but I don't know how I caused it to happen.
How does one achieve this?
Added Later: What I am referring to is a 'line break' triggered by a 'part marker.'

Not sure what you are after exactly, but it might be that you are referring to a Part Marker - which can be invoked by clicking once on the bar number to turn it Blue, then hit Gen/Play or Play to regenerate the performance.

Noel has a good point: only in more recent versions do we have control over line breaks at part markers (if that's what we're talking about; still not sure).

Matt, YES!,'line breaks' is my issue. I have since been informed that the setting is in Options/Preferences/Notation, the drop down list titled: New Line Each (part marker is the correct setting). It's in the top right corner of the dialog window. But, this seems to have a fault.
If you create an unchanging bar structure to start, before you begin entering chords, the part markers will indeed trigger line breaks, but if you change that starting structure, which always happens when creating repeats or 1st/2nd endings, and generating new bars, then the bet is off. The software won't maintain your line breaks.
Please somebody tell me I am wrong.

That's exactly correct PW. It drives me crazy too sometimes and I've complained about it both here in the main forum and in the Wishlist forum where is where problems go that you would like to see corrected.
Every year or two I'll get involved with some new players and I always tell them I can do up some charts for tunes that are not in any of the books I have. I always use Biab for that and most of the time it's fine, I can make it work but sometimes like this situation you're describing I can't make Biab do what I want. I'll mess with it for longer than I should just because I'm a geek about this stuff but finally I do the workaround we all will use occasionally.
That is to visualize how you want your chart to actually look and simply enter the chords exactly like that. This is NOT the way the song will play, it's simply the way you want the chart to look and then you print it and handwrite in your 1st/2nd endings lines and numbers, A, B, C symbols, DS and coda sign, etc. Trust me this is much faster than busting your head trying to make the program do it.
As to why can't Biab do this in the first place I have no answer to that. Things like this have been talked about for as long as I've been posting here and afaik nothing new has been added to the print functions in that time. They give us some decent basic functions but Biab is not marketed a competitor for a $600 notation program and that's basically it.
