How well is BB working with Windows XP?
Any issues?
I'm hoping to get a few more years out if my computer and all that software I've loaded on it.

So far, 2014 is running more stable on the old XP laptop than 2013 did.
And RealTracks seem to be loading a tad bit faster, though I've not taken a Stopwatch to it or anything like that.

Frank,
I'm in your boat, I have so many programs on the XP that I'm holding off on changing over to the win 8 machine long as I can. I don't use BIAB to it's full potential - usually as just a sketch pad before going to RB. RB new volume automation doesn't work with XP.
In BIAB, the only thing I've noticed so far is that if I freeze tracks and save, when I reopen and hit play it still says the tracks are frozen but they all regenerate. But I think this happened to me with 2013 too so could be just me....

Frank,
I'm in your boat, I have so many programs on the XP that I'm holding off on changing over to the win 8 machine long as I can. Same here. 2014 works just fine in XP. So much of my old software is "old" that I would have to buy something to replace it if I ever had to go to Win8. I keep praying that this old tower PC of mine will give me a few years yet. I think that Microshaft will cease to support XP soon though. cheers ian

Same here. 2014 works just fine in XP.
Another XP user here. I continue to use it for a number of reasons. 1. It ain't broke and works very well (well enough for me). 2. I use a modest size hard drive 160G. XP takes up a few gigs. I don't want an operating system to take up 100 gigs! 3. I use a smaller hard drive because of noise/emf issues with the larger SATA drives. I have a PATA drive.

XP won't be supported by Microsoft any longer. Safe usage thus applies to systems only that are thoroughly disconnected from the internet.

Never mind on the request for references, I've done some internet searching.
I'm going to go to window's seven. The most expensive software I'll lose is Sibelius (I don't think they'll let me transfer it to a new machine)...
Maybe I'll be able to load window 7 on my old machine, I'll have to research that. Still will be a hassle reloading my softwares. I hope the companies will let me.

I was able to transfer the Sibelius license over to a new machine. Check out their website, contact them directly if you have to when the time comes. Also, my old Sibelius 4 allows for me to run the software on 2 machines at the same time, you may want to check into that, when I transferred, I authorized on one while the older machine was still up and running. Maybe I'll be able to load window 7 on my old machine, I'll have to research that. Still will be a hassle reloading my softwares. I hope the companies will let me. IME only those machines that were introduced with XP on them toward the release of Win7 are fast enough to make that a worthwhile prospect. And many of the XP machines the motherboards don't allow enough RAM to make good use of Win7 as well. The good news is that microsoft has a way to find out if your machine can run Win7 and also will tell you how well to expect it to run Win7 to a certain extent. You can download and run the little proggie directly from Microsoft: Microsoft Upgrade Advisor (click here) --Mac
