Oooooooooo, I'm in there at the bottom of the pack.

Http://www.catsmeowcafe.com is only worth $10. That, and another $10 will get you lunch! LOL

I dunno, in the past we've been offered many thousand times more than what the thing says audiominds.com is worth. ($40)

They are tracking only the number of hits in a given time.

A domain name may be worth more, a lot more, than just that one criteria, but I don't think they are addressing the worth of a domain name here.

That's quite true. AudioMinds wouldn't be worth much to someone who specialized in sewing or quilting. Also, for sites in areas of specific interest, such as gospel or music in general, the pool is so vast that it is difficult to rise above the pack.

Our "company" value is zilch.

Our domain name, however, which is what I'm talkin' about, was at one time at least, sought after. Doubt if that is still the case, shoulda took the guy up on it while he had the notion and the beans.

I'm not sure how much this thing is actually worth.

My site is hosted by a different domain name: rockstarnot.rekkerd.org

It must be tracking hits on rekkerd.org, because it says there were over 9000 visits, and the site is worth more than PG Music!

The guy who runs rekkerd.org does provide a cool service by hosting people like me, and doing a fine job of reviewing plugins and such. He does get alot of traffic.

The PGMusic report has an error. It says it has Alexa rank 0.
But Alexa says: Pgmusic.com has a traffic rank of: 103,600 which is higher than rekkerd.org

Well, CatsMeowCafe.com used to be the website for a restaurant I used to visit. I've always wondered if I'd ever get anyone offering to buy the domain name from me, but I've never heard of anyone making that offer, so I don't know.

Years ago I wrote a song called "Lie To Me". A few years later another guy recorded a different song called "Lie To Me".
His song was worth much more than mine. Why? His song had lots of traffic at the stores that converted to sales. LOL

So what is a name worth? If translated to money? Traffic that makes sales?

OK, I'll do my best not to get too uppity but since my site is worth $1000.00 it is going to be hard to travel in the same old circles. Just give me a little time to settle back in with you $25 - $40 web proprietors. But the reality check is that my business site is worth $6.00! But, the feeling was nice while it lasted!

Later,

Blue,
Depends on what the name is, I guess. For instance, do you think if someone had a porn site making fun of small, flaccid genitals and called it Microsoft that it wouldn't be worth a whole lot of money to a certain company right here in the Seattle area? If this other place had it first?

True, I suppose. Maybe if your song was called Microsoft, its name might be copyrightable, if it's a registered trademark name too.

However, in websites, perhaps audiomind.com or audio-minds.com, audiominds.org, audiominds.info, etc. might be worth more or less than audiominds.com depending on the traffic rankings and of course cashflow to the owner would surely be relevant to a selling price, and it might sell for much more than a song.

Yeah, if they had it first, but didn't they make one of the first browsers too? lol And some people have actually made lots of money, supposedly, doing that, registering all kinds of names before they were taken, hoping to sell them down the road for big bucks.

Nowadays though, that porn site would be worth a lot of money to Microsoft. Since they have trademark registration lists a mile long, and also own over 24,000 or so domain names. Good luck with the lawyers.

Yeah, unfortunately your sub domain doesn't get tabulated. Only the domain you are hosting on is what is returned in the results. yoursite.theirsite.com won't work. So, unless you own 50webs.com, they get the bread and butter and you get a zero, unless of course you are making sales on your sub-domain. sorry charlie
