Anyone having any problems with MultiRiffs in 2014? Was working on a song today and added a bunch of MultiRiffs with realtrack# 1957 Alto Sax with no problems. Then went to do one more and suddenly it will no longer do any. Just get these 2 messages:

Error Reading Sax Alto Soloist Texas BluesRockStraightMark Ev 120

then,

Access Violation at address 0040605E in module "Realband.exe". Read of address 0000079D at 0040605E

Tried generating a different MultiRiff (guitar) on a different track and got the same "1957 sax-related" message above, as if RB was somehow stuck on that realtrack.

Tried generating just a regular Realtrack (not using Multi-Riff feature), and couldn't do that either.

Tried opening a new song and generating some MultiRiffs, but problem persists in new song.

Tried closing and re-starting Realband thinking it would clear, but it does not.

Tried opening BIAB thinking there was a problem with Realtrack #1957, but was able to generate #1957 there with no problem. Closed and re-started Windows, opened Realband again, but the problem persists.

Will probably have to take this up with Support, but thought I'd check here first to see if anyone else has run into this.

Hi multitracker,

So what you are saying is that Multiriff is effective stuck on RT #1957.

Did you try completely shutting down your computer and restarting it? (In addition to restarting RB.) Sometimes things are not fully cleared from the computer's RAM and a complete shutdown is the only way to do it. (LOG-OUT or HIBERNATE are not usually sufficient to fully clear RAM - in my experience, at least.)

Regards,
Noel

I had no problem generating 3 1957 MultiRiffs on separate tracks.
What I did is when RB is working good make a copy of the folder
"Realband - Copy" then when you get problems you can copy it back.
You can try and delete the realband.ini or just install it again.

Noel thanks, yes I did try completely shutting down Windows and restarting but the problem persists.

Solid, thanks for trying 1957 in RB. I'll mess with it further and may have to try reinstalling RB.

Is reinstalling simply a matter of re-running the BIAB 2014 install file + the subsequent updates?

Multitracker,

Deactivate RB and BIAB registrations before you re-install. (You'll need to be connected to the internet to deactivate.) Doing this will protect your three activations.

Yes it is.

Try this ...

I'd reset RB to factory settings by renaming the REALBAND.INI file and RB.CFG to something like REALBAND.INI.OLD and RB.CFG.OLD. This will effectively "delete" those files so that RB is forced to create new ones (thus the factory rest). If the problem is not solved by doing this, you can always delete the newly created files and then return the original files to their original names.

It's worth a shot.

Regards,
Noel

I have not done that and reinstalled, the Authorization on the one machine remained the same all by itself.

Apparently Authorization is tied to the specific machine's identity code and NOT ABLE to assign two authorizations onto one machine.

I assumed that was because the Authorization is tied to the Machine and not the install of the program, once the proper code is inside that one folder, the reinstall apparently did not overwrite it.

But I did the reinstall *right overtop* of the old one, I did not go in there and do any uninstalling or deleteing of anything, why bother? The Installer will only overwrite those files of the same name in there, and does not seem to overwrite files such as user prefs, etc. to include the Authorization. At least, that's how its been working for me here.

Multitracker,

I was just using Realband and went to generate a Realtrack and I got an access error too. I had the whole track selected (using CTRL + A). When I deselected the track, the generation worked fine. (I mention this in case it's relevant.)

Noel

For curiosity sake, try consolidating the track after using Select Whole and see if the error goes away.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Thanks Noel and Mac for your suggestions. I'll first try the factory reset route and if that does not do it will try a reinstall.

Noel, I was only trying to generate a few highlighted measures when I got the error messages.

Using a hard drive that has around less than 15% Free Space or so could also create this kind of problem.

And if the RealBand files are fragmented, it could happen even on a drive that has space available.

Answer: Defrag the drive, regardless of the report.

Tried both the reset and the reinstall but no luck. Plenty of disc space but will try the defray.

Rename the Realband folder Realband_old, then copy the one on the USB Hard drive, then copy the the "TicketsActivated" folder from the Realband_old folder to the new one and try it.
