I recently upgraded to 2014 BIAB and having an issue trying to get a midi based guitar track to correctly render to WAV.

I've tried rendering to WAV two ways; right click on mixer instrument name then select "Save MIDI track as wave file" option as well as drag guitar track to WAV quadrant of Dropbox. Essentially what is rendered to WAV is not what is played. It sounds as though only one string is being rendered to WAV.

Style is C_68FEEL.STY Country 6/8 Feel. Guitar track is using SampleTank 2.5 and Hi-Q 027 01 Guitar, Electric, Jazz SampleTank.tg.

Here is a link to the SGU and audio files: Click Here For Link!

I'd appreciate any advice you may have.

did you try just putting biab in daw plugin mode then drag an drop the track to your desktop or folder?

Hi Jim,

I used the "right-click and save midi as WAV" approach and your Guitar track rendered fine.

Have you tried resetting BIAB to factory settings (use the top option so that the audio setup is retained)?

It's not a solution, but if you were after the solo guitar track, open the file in Realband and it will generate the track for you. It's very easy to then save the track as a wav.

Regards,
Noel

Certain Guitar Tracks are set up to send to 6 MIDI channels, one for each string. This may be what you have going on there.

The reason for a separate MIDI channel per string has everything to do with TAB, Guitar Neck view, etc. in which the part can then show you exactly what the original player played, at which position, and on which string.

Try going into Notation View, then hit the the Track radio button for the one the Guit is on, then hit Opts. button, check the dropdown at top LH, if the Track Type is set to anything other than "Single Channel (Normal)" then that's why you only get the one string when you Render.

If the slot is grayed out, then that function is just not available for that particular chosen track or style, another way to get it would be to Export as Standard MIDI File and open in RB or another MIDI-capable DAW program and you should see six separate guitar tracks there. Combine into one, or Render all six to one audio track.

Thanks to all for your answers. I believe all three are helpful.

I did not put BIAB into DAW plug-in mode before rendering the midi track to wav. I just dragged from the guitar name at the top of the screen left to the wav quadrant of the daw drop. The wav file showed up in the /bb/drop folder as it should. Prior to converting the guitar track I converted the bass, drums, piano and strings tracks from midi to wav in a similiar manner without any issues. I changed the name of the rendered files and converted using the right click on the instrument patch name in the mixer to make sure there was no major difference in how the two methods work. The only difference I could find is using the DAW drop the coverted file is automatically sent to the drop folder while the right click method allows the user to define which folder the file is sent to.

Noel your answer assured me my SGU file is not corrupt and what a relief it is to know that. I don't know how but I really have gotten good at corrupting SGU files. I spend a great deal of time reconstructing corrupt SGU files from last known good SGU.

Mac I think you're correct that only one of the six strings is rendering to wav. I didn't know some styles combine the string into one channel while others do not. Evidently every midi style I've played with until now combines all strings into one channel.

Again, thanks to all for your help
