Real Band - Synth Prefs Not Remembered: VSC DXi GS mode requires a reset every time Real Band is opened
Note: I use the VSC DXi . . .
1. I open Real Band\any song file. 2. I press the Synths DXi button to set preferences. 3. I use the VSC DXI, so the Edirol panel opens. 4. I press the Setup button, then select the GS mode. 5. I close out the windows and continue work in the open session. 6. Real Band doesn't remember the GS setting, when reopened it resets to the GM2 mode. I have to reset GS mode every time I reopen Real Band. 7. Anyone else?

Just tried the same, thanks to your detailed instructions.
Exact same thing happens here.
Set to GS mode, run GS okay, closed down RB and immediately reopened it, VSC DXi is set back to GM2 mode.
Actually, I think GM2 mode is better, more voices, maybe what you need is a GM2 patchmap so you can see what you've got there.
GM2 is newer than GM/GS. "Mo' bettuh"
But the doggone thing should stick where we left it...

Thanks Mac,
It's time I told you that you are much appreciated. I've read your helpful replies to so many over the years and have always been amazed at the time you put in to help others. You're an inspiration (and smart).
Having said that . . . I thought it was the other way around, that GM had fewer instruments than GS. Are you sure on this? I'll explore it again in detail.
If you have the time and patience, your input and comments would be greatly appreciated (pressure) on other problems that I've recently been reporting on the forum. I'll be glad to be corrected on any subject that I've misunderstood, but hope for speedy resolution (patches) on true Real Band bugs.
Thanks,
Don

Hi Mac,
Got cha - but try this:
1. Prefs\Song Generation. 2. Uncheck "Allow Real Tracks" and "Allow Real Drums". Just want plain ol' MIDI (BIAB). 3. Now regenerate the song. 4. Try your best - can you stop the click clack? 5. In this mode, none of the metronome buttons do anything! 6. Seems like a problem to me. 7. Am I beating a dead horse here? Again, the BIAB metronome works perfectly, no brainer. 8. What's up here? Should I just let go? 9. What about the live situation with these preferences unchecked? Ckick, clack, click clack. 10. Hm, listen to me. Getting to sound just like that . . .
Regards,
Don

I can turn the metronome on or off at playback here.
It works.
Don't know what's the trouble at that end, but am not really sure if you are talking about the countin or the metronome.
In any case, I can turn either of both silent here.

Hi,
If you assign the VSC to each track individually so you are separate instances of it (rather than using it as the default synth) then it retains the settings. To do this, right-click on your first track and point to Port. Select DXi/VSTi synth 1, and in the DX window select VSC-DXi in the top plugin menu. Do the same for the next track, but select DXi/VSTi synth 2, etc.
Regarding the metronome - if you are in a live setting, you could save a .SEQ file where you have already erased the click. Or if you need to re-generate the song, it doesn't take to much time - highlight the 2 bars, press Ctrl+X. But I do agree that it would be a good option to prevent the 2-bar count-in from being generated and still have a negative offset. Again, the metronome settings are specifically for the sequencer recording and playback metronome, there is no relation to the BB style-generated countin.
