Trying to put a rest (except drums) on a C#b5 at the end of a measure - but the guitar plays some strange atonal chord - adding a C for some reason... but when I take off the rest, it plays the chord as written... the 'rest' is important, but not worth a 'bad' chord... what's going on with this? v2012 350.

Likely important to tell us which style or realtrack this happens with.
Worth also checking a couple of differing styles or realtracks, whichever is the case, to see if it occurs with them as well.

Using _BOSSAN and tried _BOSSANQ, and both did the same thing - adding a wrong note - not only with the C#b5 but also with any diminished chord... when I take the 'rest' off, it plays the chord as written..

Good, I can check those styles at my end now as well.
Did you try changing the C#b5 entry to Dbb5?
Well, I don't even know if that will "take" but can now experiment with things here, stay tuned.

Trying to put a rest (except drums) on a C#b5 at the end of a measure Once I opened my copy of BB and loaded the Demo Song for that style, then changed the keysig to F# and went to edit the turnarounds by adding chord to the 4th beat, I realized something I should have spotted right away: "C#b5" cannot be entered in BB, it is not a recognized chord. However, "C#7b5" can be entered, and would be the better choice, especially given that this is a Bossa style. - but the guitar plays some strange atonal chord - adding a C for some reason... but when I take off the rest, it plays the chord as written... the 'rest' is important, but not worth a 'bad' chord... what's going on with this? v2012 350. I'm using BB2014 and no longer have 2013 or 2012 installed to test with, but you shouldn't have a problem here. Consider this: Since all Instruments except Drums are being Rested, you could enter ANY chord there! So try entering a different chord. I'd start by trying the "C#7b5" entry, and if that didn't do the trick, no harm in just entering "C#7" there, since it won't be heard anyway. By the way, it works just fine here using C#7b5 entry on the 4th beat of all turnaround hars, just tried it and confirmed that. --Mac

If these are Realtracks, remember that rests, holds, and shots don't come out of the recorded RT file; they come out of the separate rest/hold/shot file. So there may be an incorrect point to the offset of the file for that particular chord. It plays fine without the rest (because it comes from the actual RT file), but there is a problem with the rest/hold/shot file. So I would provide the details and report this to PGMusic to correct.

I think only Shots and Holds use that file.
Rests should be a simple matter of Muting whatever is supposed to be there at the bar.
