We just made a YouTube ad for Band-in-a-Box. These are the types of ads that show on youtube, when you are wanting to view a certain youtube video, but you get interrupted by an ad, that you have to watch for at least 5 seconds, where you can skip it, or keep watching....

I don't have a YouTube link for it yet, but if you're interested, you could download it from here
(tip: sometimes downloading it, and then running it from your drive is better quality than letting your browser handle the whole thing)

http://nn.pgmusic.com/pgfiles/jazzu/misc/BB_3Minutes.mp4

Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback you could give us, as we are targeting this to potential new customers of Band-in-a-Box. Suggestions are welcome, because we can change this ad easily, its not like a one-shot SuperBowl commercial.

Also, some suggestions about what keywords we should target would be helpful. In other words, what are the types of terms you type in to youtube that would be most relevant to the type of person that would benefit from Band-in-a-Box. For example, we have started off with terms like these:

learn jazz guitar
learning jazz guitar
learn jazz piano
blues backing tracks
learning jazz piano
country music backing tracks
drum backing tracks
jazz backing tracks
jazz backing track
country backing tracks
backing tracks jazz
smooth jazz backing tracks
making backing tracks
make your own backing tracks
backing tracks blues
creating backing tracks
create backing track

Nice and a good step in the right direction.
Songwriting tool (software)
Song writing software
Songwriter software

You can see what I use BIAB for.
What amazes me is the HUGE success of EZKeys as compared to BIAB. When it came out it it was all the buzz on just about every DAW forum. It does not hold a candle to BIAB ability to generating not only Super MIDI tracks but of course Real-Tracks from Real Musicians

It was sold as a songwriters tool. I think BIAB is a hidden giant with regards to song writing.

This is why I ask or a few more songwriting tools a few years back like a handy circle of fifths/ a simplified version of Harmony Navigator ( chord progression)and/or a statistical tool of next chord options.
When you have time check out this crowd sourced site for progressions just as food for thought. http://www.hooktheory.com/

Studio One (latest version), Win 11 23H2 , i9 -10940X 3.3 GHz, 32GB Mem, a 4K 40" monitor, PreSonus Studio Live III Console as interface/controller. secondarily test on Reaper, Cakewalk, and S1 on Surface Pro 3 Win 10 (latest versions).

Too much information. To keep viewers attention you must show people's faces. I am not making this up.

Edit in some stock footage of smiling-face reaction shots. Even just a few stills would be a huge improvement.

Lots of good sources for stock footage - here is one:

The thing about BIAB is that it's a game changer that doesn't need to confine its target demographic to musicians.

Although keywords like "HOME STUDIO" might help you to zero in on musicians, consider POTENTIAL customers in other fields:

ADVERTISING, TV, RADIO
(no better way to create jingles, background music etc)

VIDEO, FILM MAKING (if you make video and need royalty free music for themes, transitions, scores, etc....)

TEACHING, SCHOOL, INSTRUCTION
(perfect way to add music to any curriculum or instruction video)

WEB DESIGN, PROGRAMMING, MS VISUAL STUDIO, RAPID PROTOTYPE
(web sites and other programming ventures can often use music)

ANIMATION, CARTOON, COMIC
(more creative pursuits that could use a source of music)

HOBBY, CREATIVE, ART, CRAFTS
(creative people often find other creative outlets interesting and worthy of exploration)

The fact that you have made music creation accessible to the non-musician opens a LOT of doors that aren't open yet to SONAR, PROTOOLS, etc

Plus, I think the non musician user base would be more likely to appreciate the power that's available in your product, unlike the musician user base which tends to compare it to other music software and get bogged down in the differences.

As I watch the video, my impression is that it is geared toward musicians. It might take a different presentation to show how BIAB could be useful to other professions... but as long as the keywords were different for each video, you could tailor your ad to a wide variety of different audiences!

Great idea! Please keep us posted on your results... I assume you have a way to track the effectiveness of these ads

I agree with Pat but I think you missed a major point. Many musicians use MIDI and there was no mention or examples of MIDI. RTs are great but so is MIDI and I think you should also promote it.

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

+1 on Mario's posting.
Also the fact that PG folks are building and promoting the "Midi Supertracks"
and "Hi Q" in the new arena of improvements.

Also a high number of current members are using Ketron and other Midi
sound devices with PG products.

IMHO the icing on the cake are the "improved" quality of some number of
current VSTi's.

As Mario has mentioned the Realtrack sounds are great.

Looks like most people have all the Adwords taken care of.

As for the content, it all depends on who you think your target audience is. Do you have market research to point you in the right direction?

If you have ever been through a divorce, all your friends are the first to give you bad legal advice. You better off getting it from a lawyer (professional). Thanks for asking our opinion, but if your goals are to double or triple your annual sales - start with professional advice. Use a marketing firm to help.

Don't mean at all to insult anybody who posted earlier. I have been in sales and marketing for 25 years and today I am meeting with a firm to help do what I can't.

By the way, your ad looks great and appeals to me. If your target audience is more people like us - your spot on! We like what you've done and obviously spend lots of our time learning more by all our replies on the forum!

Timed jingles

A brief mention that between BIAB, RealBand and included accessories a suite of unique music production tools are available to meet the music production needs of the non music professional that requires original music.
