I have a problem exporting a midi file out of BIAB 2009.
I have a song created , I click on the .MID icon to export, I select Type 1 (multitrack) and export the file.
When I import the file, into sonar, one of the tracks, the bass is missing.
the keyboard, guitar and drums are there, there is tracks also created for piano, melody and soloist, but they have no midi info in them, but not even a track is created for the bass guitar?
The style is STRAYST8.STY, I tried a different style(s), same result no bass..
any help appreciated..
cheers
Wiz

Check in SONAR again. The bass track should be the first one above the tracks for the other BIAB instruments.
What happens (and I don't know why) is that all the other instruments are created and named into their own new tracks, but the bass track, being the first in order, is inserted into the existing blank MIDI track in your default configuration and has that track's name. Thus, you might not think it is there.
Let me know if you find it, or not.
Which version of SONAR, by the way?
And the bass track isn't muted in BIAB, is it?
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Quadruple checked, no bass track...
I understand what you are saying, about the track name...I tried two ways, importing with nothing in the song (which is how you get all tracks with their names, doing it in sonar, if you are a sonar user...) and importing into a song that has a midi track created already, which is how you get what you described about midi track names..
Its definately not importing the bass track...
Bass track is not muted in BIAB, and its not a REAL TRACK
I am running sonar 8 producer...
Cheers

Glad it works, but it works fine for me in SONAR 8.
Let's double-check. What I do is create then select a blank MIDI track in SONAR, then Import the MIDI file from BIAB. Is that what you are doing?

also, if I OPEN the midifile in Sonar 8 the bass track is there, but if I IMPORT the file its not...you could try that for me on your sonar if you like and see if it behaves the same way...
I am going to submit a bug report to cakewalk...
thanks everyone
Cheers

Thus try opening that midi file via Sonar 6 or 7, save again and then try loading the sonar-saved midi file now in Sonar 8. In addition you might post your cryptic midi file somewhere such that others could take a closer look at it ...
