Hi,
I've always loaded the full band in a box program onto my laptop hard drive.
I've recently purchased a laptop with a SSD hard drive so it's not large enough to load the full program.

Out of the 2 options available is it better to just do the basic install and run the program from the USB drive or is it better to load most of the program into the laptop and just use the real tracks and real drums from the Usb drive.

Mainly is there any difference as far as latency goes for either of these 2 options.

I'm also getting a USB SSD drive.

Thank you

best wishes

Until these are 500M or bigger you will need a dual drive system since for music, But that is ok since for recording, a dual drive is preferred. So if you a going to do recording to the laptop with BIAB then put it all on the external drive, otherwise, don't matter much if you put only the RTs and RDs there.

I have a smaller SSD boot drive (192 GB) so I loaded the BIAB main program onto the SSD and then put all the RealTracks and RealDrums on another drive. This works great. [All my application programs are on the SSD and all the data for all programs is elsewhere.]

Yes, I could have just run BIAB from another hard drive, regardless of where I put the RealTracks and RealDrums, but once I saw how much faster everything is running from the SSD, I was not willing to give that up even for BIAB. However, on the few occasions when I have run from the supplied PG Music drive, it runs BIAB pretty well, so I'm not sure it matters all that much.

Hi Matt
Thank you.
The SSD is brilliant, can't believe how quickly it boots up. I've only got 128 gig drive, on my laptop so loading the whole program was definitely not an option.
I think I will go for the data, real and drum tracks on the USB drive option, and load the main program onto the laptop.
Be interesting to see if a portable USB SSD works any better than just a normal USB drive with the real tracks.Have to wait till it arrives next week to find out. If not I've just bought a fairly expensive fast back up drive haha.

best wishes
