Biab .Mgx files (I found them on the internet) can be opened in BiaB 2014 for Mac by double-clicking on the file. It does not play well after generating however.
1/ are these BB for Windows files?
2/ is there a way to convert these files to 'normal' .MGU files?

Hi,
I use BiaB for Windows so I am aware there are some differences between the Windows and Mac versions but do not know all the differences.
1) I do not know if the file suffix is Windows or Mac specific but I suspect not. The most likely answer is the file was created with a much older version of BiaB.
2) You should be able to save the file suffix by opening the file with BiaB then use the "Save as" command and select the SGU file suffix.

Hi Jim,
Thanx for your answer. The Mgx file contained STY changes, saving as SGU file does work, but the STY changes are not handled correctly. So playing lacks most of the instruments after the first STY change.
The Mgx file cannot be loaded from within BB for Mac, only by double-clicking in the Finder.
Using the unclicking ( OK to Load styles with songs ) in the Styles menu is a workaround only for playing the song not saving.

Roundabout way perhaps but how about opening up the original MGX file, writing down what instruments are used in whichever tracks, saving the opened file as a SGU file, close file and BiaB, open BiaB, open SGU file, add correct instruments then save as a new SGU file.
Sometimes BiaB "remembers" things it shouldn't remember and gets confused. Putting some distance between the original that's giving an issue and a new copy works. Closing down BiaB between steps allows it's internal settings to refresh.
Another possibility is to treat the MGX file as corrupt and recreate it as a SGU from scratch.
