Greetings fellow BIAB users, this is my first (EDIT: second) post.

I have just received my Megapak BIAB after playing around with the Demo version.

First let me say that the RealTracks are awesome. I am getting some excellent ideas from hearing the Rock style guitar work over my original MIDI files.

My question is this: I have 8 bars of verse, 8 bars of chorus, 8 bars of verse, and 8 bars of chorus (why is everything called a chorus by the way?) and then it comes time to change from RealTracks MTL_120_Hvy Mtl, w/met.bass to a bridge (a verse again in this instance) with RealTracks MTL_120_Hvy Mtl, w/met.solo for a change up. As per the instructions, I hit F5 at the bar I wish to add the solo to and change styles. It turns red at that bar as if the changes will take place but when I re-generate the song the solo does not happen even though it shows that the style has changed.

I tried a style change at the very beginning to make sure the solo style works and it does but it is not actually playing the style change as per the above procedures.

I am very new to this program so I am more than likely missing something simple. Please inform me of what that may be so I can get moving forward.

Thank you in advance for any help that you may provide.

EDIT: According to the other similar thread, one cannot change RealTrack styles within a song. Is this correct?

Chorus can have a different meaning in different genres. Band-in-a-Box uses a convention where a chorus is once through the song.

It's correct that it isn't possible to have more than one RealTracks instrument on the same Band-in-a-Box track. So at a style change, if there are any RealTracks instruments being used, those won't change. There are a couple of approaches to accomplish a RealTracks instrument change:

1. Use RealBand.
or
2. Add the new RealTracks instrument on another available track (there are 7 tracks available), then add rests where appropriate (for example Cmaj7.bpdg rests all accompaniment tracks except strings). 'Edt menu | Copy rests' allows you to copy the same rest over a series of bars.

Andrew,

Without going into a full detailed application training session, can you expound on No. 1 just a little?

In regard to No. 2, ya gotta admit that sounds klugey to the extreme.

I found out that RealBand will do this without any hassle whatsoever.

Thank you for providing us with almost unlimited control. This is in fact a complete package.

Please continue to develop more Pop/Rock styles as this is more of my mainstay. I am sure that others will request more of the other types of styles but that only makes it possible for you to continue to cater to all types of musicians and still make money in the process.

Rock (or Jazz) on!

Hello Firstbassman,

There are a few different ways. One way is just to highlight the bars where you want the style change, select the new style, and press generate.

Ah, thanks Andrew. That sounds very cool.

Now I just have to learn how to use Real Band.

Errr, isn't it the other way around? I thought in your example: Cmaj7.bpdg, it rests the strings, while the bass, piano, drum and guitar plays???
