I have recently come across a chord definition that I don't recognize. "Dm7.d" It is in a version of Miles Davis "So What". Any ideas on what the ".d" on the end of the Dm7 is?

If this is a chart printed by BIAB, or in a BIAB song file, the .d means, don't play (d)rums during that chord. You can read about this in the Help under "Rests".
If it is a fakebook or some such, I don't know. I am familiar with the song, of course; where in the tune is this notation? Can you post a PDF?

1. The "Dm7.d" is in the chord sheet of a BIAB file. 2. I checked the drum part of the piece and saw/heard that it did have a Hi-Hat swing playing during this section. goto http://sites.google.com/site/ssnerwood/for pdf and BIAB file Thanks again.

The "dot d" means, "Rest all instruments *except* drums".
I checked your file and it does indeed do that.
Rightclick on one of those chords and select Chord Settings to view the thing in full scope.
BTW -- "All" instruments in this case means all auto-accompaniment intruments. The bass is on the Melody track and the horns are on the Soloist track for the Intro section. Those two tracks are not auto-accompaniment tracks, so they play.

Yep, typed too fast on that one, sorry. But Help, Rests says it all clearly.

In addition: you can do this for each instrument alone or in combination with others, eg. Dm7.bd (bass and drums). Just use the instruments' first letter, so bass=b, piano=p, strings=s etc.
I know it works like that with all instruments and the melody. The solo I don't know.
solo= ???? anyone?

Hi abaudio,
You can specify that some instruments not be affected by the break.
"The coded names for the instruments are:
B for Bass
D for Drums
P for Piano
G for Guitar
S for Strings"
In other words the BIAB auto-generated instruments
For melody and soloist there are other ways to program/remove them

Hi jazzman, that is what I just said here. I only wondered if you could do the same for solo. The others as you can see I allready knew!
Oh and I saw Mac answered that as well, and even shows the melody is not able to do it for. My bad.

This was intended to be the main point of my reply - both melody and soloist are editable and with choice of your custom settings

Ah my bad. I think I was to fast, and did not read your answer thoroughly. Thanks for pointing that out for me.  And yes, I know one can change a lot of settings about how a solo is been made and stuff like that, I just wondered if it was possible to mute it in the same way described above. And well that has been answered too.
